Uh-oh
Who knows how somebody will do in an Indy car until they get in one and start driving it? Being a winner is a good start. I'm not looking forward to seeing how he does with non-D2 players.Yes, but this might be why he probably wasn’t a good fit at IU. As Mike DeCourcey likes to point out, the last team to win the ncaa championship without a first round NBA draft choice on their squad was IU in 1987. You need nba talent on your team to win it all.
Of course, but that’s limited to the nil budget he’ll have. He’s not likely going to get all-B1G caliber talent.I don't think there's any signs that McCollum won't be a great recruiter. Word on him has been that he can recruit. No reason to think that only applies to D1 cast-offs. I don't doubt he wants the best NIL he can get too. He's smart .
Helluva Plan B for the Hawkeyes.Iowa just hit a grand slam. I hope this doesent come back to bite IU in the a$$. I like the DeVries hire and believe he can be very good but i'm jealous of them landing McCollum.
Iowa fans are jealous of IU’s DeVries. McCollum was their plan B. The head to head match ups will be heavily anticipated, as they will be when we play Michigan, now both are secondary rivals as teams we really want to beat.
Honestly, I don’t care how he does. I just want DeVries to take the talent he’ll be able to get at IU and win.Who knows how somebody will do in an Indy car until they get in one and start driving it? Being a winner is a good start. I'm not looking forward to seeing how he does with non-D2 players.
This tells me Scott didn't even talk with him. From the press conference, it sounds like he focused on DD and put blinders on.Helluva Plan B for the Hawkeyes.
McCollum wouldn't have come to IU regardless. This tells me Scott didn't even talk with him. From the press conference, it sounds like he focused on DD and put blinders on.
Plus Iowa has always had a good crop of homegrown players who will be there for the picking for McCollum. He will do really really well.Great hire for Iowa. He’s shown his style doesn’t need the big NIL type recruits.
Why?McCollum wouldn't have come to IU regardless.
Fran did a good job at Iowa.Iowa just hit a grand slam. I hope this doesent come back to bite IU in the a$$. I like the DeVries hire and believe he can be very good but i'm jealous of them landing McCollum.
I watched his presser after last night's loss. He talked about "feeling comfortable" where he's at. What's more comfortable than home ... and away from the IU fish bowl? Why?
Of Brad? Maybe.Geez, some of you act as though he is the second coming! I'm sure he will do well at Iowa but he's not gonna dominate the league. Get a grip.
There was really no need for Dolson to allude to any contact with any other candidates for the job at the press conference. This tells me Scott didn't even talk with him. From the press conference, it sounds like he focused on DD and put blinders on.
Plus Iowa has always had a good crop of homegrown players who will be there for the picking for McCollum. He will do really really well.
Of course not. He wouldn't do that. There was really no need for Dolson to allude to any contact with any other candidates for the job at the press conference.
BIG has really upgraded the coaching ranks with May, Devries and McCollum.Uh-oh
You mean like IU and Kansas last year, how did that go?With that nil budget probably none. With our nil budget? Probably the same. 😛
No kidding...BIG has really upgraded the coaching ranks with May, Devries and McCollum.
Add Izzo, Painter and Underwood the league is pretty good.No kidding...
Juwan to Dusty
Woody to DeVries
Fran to McCollum
That’s what every athletic director wants the public to believe with a new hire, isn’t it?This tells me Scott didn't even talk with him. From the press conference, it sounds like he focused on DD and put blinders on.
Altman is solid also and Cronin isn't chopped liver. Maybe Musselman gets it together too.Add Izzo, Painter and Underwood the league is pretty good.
Like IU will? Under DeVries? Yes.Like IU?
Gard.Add Izzo, Painter and Underwood the league is pretty good.
Iowa and Indiana are both sub 500 teams in the Big Ten this Century! IU has just used more coaches and money to get there.Fran did a good job at Iowa.
I think the best case for Iowa is another Fran with a couple NCAA runs sprinkled in. That was ultimately his downfall, he never could break through in March.
Iowa is a bottom half B1G basketball job. People need to be realistic about what success looks like there.
Izzo is the current kingpin of BT basketball coaching. When he retires it will be Painter. When Painter retires, it will become DeVries, who is five years younger than Porkchop.Add Izzo, Painter and Underwood the league is pretty good.
Your coach was .500 against Woody. Your coach has been to as many FF's as Mike Davis after 25 years. You're lucky IU's admin has been awful. If DD is the guy, you'll have your work cut out for you.Iowa and Indiana are both sub 500 teams in the Big Ten this Century! IU has just used more coaches and money to get there.
Maybe DD will be better, would have rather hired Ben tho.
Forgot.abou5 the new guys.Altman is solid also and Cronin isn't chopped liver. Maybe Musselman gets it together too.
I'll take the other side of that bet. Iowa is extremely difficult place to win at. McCollum will struggle to be better than Fran.I think he's going to do well at Iowa. He'll have time to make mistakes and learn from them that he wouldn't have here. They will be relevant again.
Read it again doofus. You mean like IU and Kansas last year, how did that go?
Remember, Matt Painter's results are better than Bill Self's LOLZRead it again doofus.
