Granted, I have no evidence, no "inside information" and little more than my personal wonderings, but, I cannot help but remember that Sun Tzu said: "Thus what enables the wise sovereign and the good general to strike and conquer and achieve things beyond the reach of ordinary men is FOREKNOWLEDGE. Now, this foreknowledge cannot be elicited from spirits; it cannot be obtained inductively from experience, nor by any deductive calculation. Knowledge of the enemy's dispositions can only be obtained from other men."
What if some organization has planted one or two or three people in town or on campus with instructions to get to know student-athletes and encourage/lure them to engage in behavior that will disrupt a team's routines and cause problems in the athletic department? I'm thinking that such a program would clearly violate NCAA rules but would also be pretty easy to accomplish.
Poo-poo it, if you wish. But, it has the virtue of explaining many recent events.
