Manchin wakes up (a little bit)

Wakes up? Are you joking. But for him I can't imagine what inflation would look like. We all owe him a debt of gratitude.

When will you wake up?
Inflation? Sorry, but neither my post nor my link mentioned inflation.

Now, if you're talking about your inflated ego, then your reply makes perfect sense, though I don't know why you would think you need Manchin to help you inflate your ego. You're already doing that all by yourself.

Maybe he should listen better, as should Collins.

You know what they said in private meetings with them?

No, but I would be puzzled if anyone would vote for a judge who privately says one thing then publicly says another. So I will presume the private discussions were consistent with the public ones.

It's quite easy (and commonplace) to be dishonest without telling bald faced lies. Manchin and Collins and Murkowski got played.

A solid bet is that they were just as careful with their language in private as they were in the confirmation hearings when they did not lie, but these same politicians say they did.

Fact check says, “A close examination of the carefully worded answers by the three Trump appointees, however, shows that while each acknowledged at their hearings that Roe was precedent, and should be afforded the weight that that carries, none specifically committed to refusing to consider overturning it.”

Why would you think the politicians that are claiming that the nominees lied in their confirmation hearings (when the nominees didn’t lie) are accurately describing what was said in private?

True honesty will always take a back seat to getting what you want.

Anyone who believed those justices weren’t going to overturn Roe the first chance they got is a f*****g dumbass.

Trump, McConnell, and the Federalist Society all said that's what they intended to do. Yet Collins claimed she thought Kavanaugh and Gorsuch wouldn't make the leap. So yeah, dumbass.

Nah. They heard what they wanted to hear.
I hate to agree with UncleMark or Butter, but she is a dumbass. Well, maybe not a dumbass, but certain disingenuous when she claims she was lied to.

It's nothing but political cover, just like it is for every politician after they see what the polls say in their home districts.

As we try to understand the honesty and transparency of the justices' individual language in the Dobbs and Bruen decisions, we should all remember how honest and transparent the Supreme Court nominees were when they begged the Senate to confirm them to the SC for life.

Once a judge becomes a good liar or deceiver it's hard to turn off the switch. There are only a few known exceptions, like when your high school buddy develops substance problems but you don't care much. In that case. a Supreme Court nominee can afford to be completely honest.

1) They shouldn't be stating how they would vote on any issue and 2) How they would vote on an issue does not enter into their qualifications to be a justice.

You're the one who mentioned Manchin finally wakes up - all that is being said is that he woke up a while again to the Dems inflation machine.
