I couldn't stand how acitve threads of interest would get pushed off the front page just because new threads were started. Every other message board I've been to for the past decade plus has operated the way this one now does. I'm really glad to see this change.

On the old system, you had a choice. One of the choices kept active threads up top--similar to this. I didn't use it or like it but I had another option. Now I don't or least I haven't found it yet.

You're talking about the thread view as opposed to the topic view, and it appears that is not an option with this new crap. At least I can't find it.

Yeah but almost nobody would do that, and once a topic fell off the front page it was out of sight and out of mind. This lead to people starting the same topic over and over again. Makes perfect sense to me that the active threads should stay at or near the top. By definition they are the ones most people care about.

There's your answer. If "almost nobody would do that", they didn't like that view. Now we are forced to use it. All I ask for is a choice.

Not at all. People go with the default. It's human nature.

I would wager heavily that a majority of users never knew there was any alternate way to view the threads. I only learned of it because I complained about how antiquated the message board format was. I tried it, but it didn't really work if virtually no one else was viewing it that way.
