Ethan Vercrumba led off the inning and reached base on an error by OSU's second baseman. Vercrumba then advanced to second after he stole second base. Jeremy Houston then failed to lay a bunt down and struck out swinging. Ashley then flew out to the centerfielder in right-center field and Richardson struck out swinging to end the inning.

Boy, this team can look like 💩 at times. Just in the first 3 innings we’ve seen a very shaky start by Sommer, terrible base running, failure to get a bunt down, and a dropped infield pop up. TIME TO WAKE UP BOYS!

Dezenzo singled to center field and then advanced to second base after Pohl hit a towering fly ball to third base and Barr dropped the ball. Kern then grounded out into a 5-4-3 double play and Dezenzo advanced to third base. Okuley then flew out down the right-field line to end the inning.

Barr hit a leadoff single to left field and then advanced to second base after Toetz grounded out to shortstop. Jordan Fucci then doubled down the left-field line and Barr came around to score. Jessee then drew a one-out walk, but Vercrumba lined out to second base and Fucci was doubled up at second to end the frame.
