WEATHER UPDATE:

It seems as if the game may go to a delay. Both coaches, along with the umpires, are talking and there are no players on the field.

Through 3.5 innings, we already have four errors in the game. All four of the Huskers runs are of the unearned variety. Espalin had two errors in the first two innings and then was replaced by Houston who didn't take long to commit another error. The schedule didn't favor us today. We go 11 innings with Rutgers and then we have to turn around and play a well-rested Nebraska team who has their #1 starter on the mound. Nebraska faces playing two tomorrow while the host school in Rutgers has four games stretched out over four days, since they play Neb on Sunday and then again on Monday.

I will say, though, that the conditions are not the best for fielding. But Nebraska did put a ton of pressure on Indiana's defense with aggressive baserunning and bunting.

It's astonishing to me we can't find a decent defensive shortstop. I love the fact that Epsalin got on base all 5 times yesterday, but damn.

Set up does not favor us today. Going 11 and then facing a well rested #1. What ever. I'm not losing sleep regardless of outcome. I will say I'd love to kick their ass but we are at a disadvantage today. Get some playing time for some of the guys and have fun. Go Hoosiers!

Would like to note Cade Povich has been taken out of the game and NU's reliever just allowed back-to-back walks.

Terrible bunt by Ashley Drew. (That’s what the idiot kid BIG announcers keep calling him)

It seems the rain delay is what the doctor ordered. It seems we have settled down, at least early on after the delay. Two homers by Barr today so far.

I might add that the bullpen failed the Huskers bigtime in getting swept by Rutgers last weekend. So things are looking up in that area for us.

Disappointing game. I just wish our first game of the season with the Huskers was under better circumstances after having to face a fresh team after just playing an eleven inning game. It's an excuse, but a legitimate one. We had our chances, but those four unearned runs Neb scored early in the game really hurt. A walk to the pitcher who scored the winning run, sure didn't help. We have another shot at them tomorrow with Bierman on the mound, I assume.

Rediculous circumstances.

I might add that with it being a four-game series for us, we didn't start our normal third starter in Bierman, who has been our most consistent starter of late. I assume he will be on the mound tomorrow.
