Bierman deserved better support than what we gave him today. It's baseball and you are going to have games like this, but we went from little to no offense to making mental errors late in the game which added up to a big "L." I don't know if this was Denner's best pitching performance for the season, and we would probably have to see what the UM coach says, but it was at least probably one of his better games. We can't afford to slip up against a bad Illinois team on Tuesday while looking ahead to another big weekend hosting the pod with Neb and OSU coming to town. This is our first series loss since the OSU debacle, but at least we won one of the three games.
Colopy reached on a fielding error by Michigan's first baseman. Pinch hitter Fucci struck out swinging and then Hopkins reached on a fielder's choice to second base and Colopy was out at second. Pinch hitter Jessee struck out swinging to end the game.
Indiana loses 6-1 and drops the series.
Maryland completed their sweep of the Boilers today and have now won 11 of 12 games and are right on the heels of the leaders with a record of 24-14 and are two games behind us in the loss column with both teams at 24 wins. They have a three-game series at Michigan next weekend which should be an interesting series.
