It wasn't one of Sommer's better starts. Two of the four runs given up were earned, and while we can't blame him for the errors, he exacerbated the situation with walks. We need to hold them at bay and try to get some offense going.

Shades of the OSU game where we looked like a Little League team in the field. Two errors on the same play and we give up another unearned run, and that's after we gave up a lead-off walk. Geesh!!

I see they just charged one error on that play, so instead of four errors on the game, we are at three - three too many.

Three unearned runs and three errors = end of story. We absolutely need to take these next two games. I hate to think that Baseball America might have it right and Iowa is in the NCAA field while we are on the outside looking in. We sure played like it today. BTW, we outhit them 9 to 8, but one of their hits was a two-run homer.

This series will tell if we can compete with the big boys. After one game the jury is still out.

Win these next two and then do some damage in the Nebraska and Michigan series'. There is a pathway if IU can avoid the stumble.

Neb lost, while Michigan's game with NW was canceled, so with Mich being idle, they move back into 2nd place going into Saturday's games. Iowa moved closer to the three leaders, and they want these last two games of our series every bit as much as we do. We need to get our heads back into this series and quit giving up gift runs. BTW, Michigan is playing a double-header with Illinois on Saturday.

Great that Nebraska lost after we faced a tough loss yesterday. Critical that we win these next two games!
