LifelongIU77 and other Woody defenders. Does this game move the needle?

I haven’t defended but I hadn’t given up until today. I can’t believe we are going to waste this talented team. Hopefully some of the big donors that wanted to keep Woody were in the Bahamas today and saw the light too. I was considering going and I’d be so angry if I had. That was pathetic.

I went to Vegas and came home disappointed.

I went to Atlanta and came home mad.

If I'd have gone to the Bahamas, I might be sitting in either a Bahamian jail or hospital.

Ok, I’ll bite. I’ve been a Woody defender. Today did move the needle for me, and I can no longer blame injuries or personnel with the team IU currently has. They looked disorganized and poorly coached, and poorly motivated. Shockingly so. If it continues, he’ll be gone at year’s end, and rightfully so.

Hypothetically, let’s say they win tomorrow against Gonzaga. Let’s say that what happened today is an aberration. Let’s say theyre making waves midway through the BT season. Will some of you Woody haters leave it be? Also, no one is getting fired mid season. It’s just not happening. He’ll get one more full season.

Last year was the payoff year, and he didn't even make the NCAA Tournament.

I defended him until around this time last year. He'd have to put games like this in the rearview mirror and win the conference for me to want him back. He's got a track record of this type of loss though. There will be a couple more like this before the season is up.

I honestly don't understand how we're this ill prepared, poorly motivated, and generally sloppy in year 4.

This is simply not a competent basketball product. Offense is a mess. Defense is a mess. Discipline, BB IQ, and turnovers are a mess. Effort is a mess. No adjustments were made. We still have poor guard play and lack of shooting.

Yes, he will get this season, a full season. No they will not be making waves during the B1G season, although not many teams are ranked in their conference. We have seen 3 full seasons of mistakes, lack of effort etc, just like we have so far this year. Same statements by Woody in the post game interview. Back play is their only consistent thing they have done for 3 years and this season. Just because you win does not mean you are playing good basketball but some will not understand that.

Reneau said today they didn't play the game plan Woodson had for them ... why not? It is not the first time I have heard a player say that either.

So the chances of us old mf'ers "leave it be" are slim and ****ing none. Oh ... they won't bet Gonzaga tomorrow ... Coach Few knows how to adjust and make a fast comeback and I doubt the clueless look I see on the sidelines when the tv focuses in on him, will not. It will be ugly tomorrow. Still like I said the other day ... I wouldn't bet a dime on this team either way, but I'd play a million on a crap table.

The players need to get some sleep tonight ... Galloway looked hungover and Mbako played like he was stoned. I've been both, so I know what that looks and feels like.

Worst game I've seen in 50 years watching. And that's saying something.

An IU game like this 25-30 years ago I would've (and did) put a remote through a TV screen. I would've been apoplectic...but the past couple decades of mostly shitty basketball have left me apathetic. I just can't bring myself to care. We know what bad basketball looks like...it looks like the last 25 years or so of IU Basketball. We also know what good basketball looks like...it looks the the 25 years or so at IU prior to that. Well I don't have another couple decades of giving a damn left in me...especially when TPTB at IU don't seem to give a damn.

He is hair a bad basketball coach. Cut your losses

The first year of Crean is actually one of my fondest teams. I’m not sure I’ve ever cheered for a team each game more than that team. They played their asses off. They had very little business beating anyone but they gave some good teams a run for their money.
Still cant believe that team defeated Cornell, a sweet 16 team with Wittman's son.

Moved the needle a bit for me. That said, in the end, it won't matter what moves the needle for me. Woodson's going to get the remainder of the season. I would have to think that some "what if" conversations have already occurred and that what led to the restructuring of Woodson's buyout last season.

It will be interesting to see how conference play goes. I can't bring myself to wish for an IU loss. Woody was there when I was. It's tough to watch someone you admired so much as a player be loathed so badly as a coach.

once you know the result, why even bother?
I do the same as him. I used to try and avoid checking the score, but now I check so I don't waste the time watching it if we're getting blown out. I was at that Auburn game last year and that was a profound turning point for me. Vowed not to care more than the team, but I checked the score and watched a few minutes yesterday, so I may have violated that tenet!

Anyone go to Vegas/AZ, Atlanta/Auburn and the Bahamas, for the shitty neutral site trifecta? My condolensces!

no need to make the point to "vow" not to care......it just comes naturally

and not caring doesn't mean you can't watch.

the apathy protects you from any distress

Your point regarding him as a player is why he never should have been hired to coach. His reputation has been severely compromised. Very unfortunate.
