You are on drugs. Painter? Lol. Gard? Mccaffey? Pikiell? Turgeon, who just stomped him in the ground?
Underwood and Collins are probably the only coaches in the Big Ten that are as bad as Miller. Hell id take Richard Pitino over him.
I would put Miller down in the bottom 4 of worst big ten coaches. Yet he is paid in the top 4 I believe. Good job fred. You are on drugs. Painter? Lol. Gard? Mccaffey? Pikiell? Turgeon, who just stomped him in the ground?

Why would you take Howard? Guy has never been a HC before and Beilein left him with a lot of talent, so this season is likely not indicative of what he’ll do later. . Painter does the most with less and his players actually get better year to year. Plus, Painter knows how to put a team together.[/QUOTE]Out of this list I would take only Painter & Howard
The only coach that has proven to be special is Izzo. No other coach has been beyond the Elite 8.Name the coaches in the Big Ten, that you’d rather have Archie over.

Painter, no way. Can't recruit (not even in Indiana), hasn't been to a FF in 15 years, doesn't put forth a consistent winner. Painter wouldn't have come close to 15 years at IU.Izzo
Holtman

It’s easier to recruit to IU. He has proven he is a good coach who develops his guys. Get him at iu where he could get better talent and you have a winner.Painter, no way. Jury is still out on Holtmann. He has shown some promise.

Michigan took a huge gamble on Howard. He had no head coaching experience on any level and no coaching experience in college. He might be successful and he might be a bust, but I'd say the odds are higher that he'll be a bust. I don't wish him ill, I just think Michigan took a big chance on him.Why would you take Howard? Good coaches go to FF's and are able to recruit well enough to do so at smaller schools/mid majors: Stevens, Few, Marshall, Beard, etc. There really isn't an excuse, especially after 15 years. Painter has had every opportunity to prove he is special and has failed to do so. Crean has even been to a FF, come on! If you want a "good" coach, Crean should do it for you. It’s easier to recruit to IU. He has proven he is a good coach who develops his guys. So you're good with giving archie or whoever 15 years to get past the sweet 16 here?Painter has been to 3 sweet 16s in a row, including an elite 8. He has also competed for a league title each of the last few years. If it was 1999 I would thumb my nose, and say we measure things in titles at IU. But now, in 2020, they have the better program. IU would probably sign miller to a lifetime contract If he matched what painter did over the last 3 years.

There is a reason Crean was fired in year 9 (should have been fired years before this) and Painter has been at PU for 15-16 years. PU names their floor after coaches like Painter. Sounds like Crean would still be coach if it was up to you.Painter has been to 3 sweet 16s in a row, including an elite 8. He has also competed for a league title each of the last few years. Keeping Davis did not kill the program. Hiring Sampson did. We could of had beilein for one and hired Sampson. If Sampson was a stand up guy he would still be here and we would be winning big ten titles. The davis final four is the one bright spot we have had but by no means was that what killed the program. The sampson hire did.I think you misunderstand.
IU basketball is a shell of itself. In hindsight beating Duke was the worst possible thing that could have happened. We gave Davis, who was in over his head, an extension. At the time we could have conducted a proper search and hired anyone. That hire/extension blew up, so we tried having a program like Oklahoma. We hired a cheater, but were told at the presser that what he did there could never happen at IU. Uhh huh. I don’t even want to waste my brain cells typing about crean.
I hate defending PU. I hate saying anything nice about painter.
When I hear people making fun of PU b/c they haven’t been to a final four it makes me want to pull my hair out. But, we are psycho as fans. If miller takes this team to the sweet 16, people would be printing the “we are back, again” tee shirts. But we make fun of PU who just went to an elite 8.
I will tell you this much: Any elite program that has a record like we had over the last 20 years would fire coach after coach until they hit it right. And you know why? Because the longer you go as a mediocre program (and we are mediocre as a program) the harder it is to ever be great again
