I'm glad they are, even if they decide later to come back. Should bring some positive energy.
Good for them. They have given their all for IU. I am especially happy for Leal. He hasn’t gotten a lot of playing time but stuck with it.

I’m not reading too much into it. Race did and changed his mind. But I imagine they are keeping their options open.
Seniors don’t always come back. But if 2-3 players transfer, especially if it were MR and MM (and I assume Ware goes pro) then I think it speaks volumes on Woodson.
You guys are missing the point. CMW has helped his players to go PRO fulfilling their dreams. When trouble came, he stood by his players, accepting the blame. He did not blame his players. MM has benefited from it. CMW has believed in his players, finally, he has a full roster. The team is playing well. These are examples you want from a coach.
I think Leal starts his realtor business Galloway hits the portal. Like I said Woodson threw guys under the bus alot so expect turnover.
Mrs Woodson, I know you have bias here but my goodness. He has destroyed this roster and the future development of this program. He needs to retire and move on. He doesn’t enjoy recruiting, so he doesn’t do it. He just expects NIL to do the work. Sad sad deal in B-town. He is a terrible college coach

This is BS. CMW has thrown the players under the bus in the pressers ALL SEASON LONG. Repeatedly. He has blamed them and them alone all season long. It was only late after the media started lambasting him for it that he finally took some blame on himself, and then immediately gave it a disclaimer that he's not the one missing shots.
He’s also saddled with (some) Archie players. Gotta flush them out of the system.

When McNeely de-committed I jokingly said the over-under on returning scholarship players for next year should be set at 2.5. At this point, the only one I feel comfortable in returning is--no one. I think MM and MR will both go through the draft process as well as enter the portal, who knows what Cupps, Sparks and Newton are thinking, have to assume based on PT this year Gunn and Banks are gone
I’d guess we back up the Simon/Cook NIL Brinks truck for MR and MM. But yea, there is no clear read on what anyone is doing except Ware, and probably Gunn/Banks. Not a good place to be if you want program stability.
The real question is whether or not Woody knows yet.
I hope so! Coaches must be talking player plans this time of year (they should know for portal recruiting), and I assume any updated NIL deals should be offered or communicated by now. But then again, it’s IUBB…
Not what I remember. I remember him saying "that's on me" and "that's my job to fix it" most of his pressers. Yes he did call out players, probably remembering how RMK used to do that as a motivational strategy when he knew a player was capable of more than he was showing. He also mentions players by name they play well. Yes he has talked about our injuries, just like everyone here is mentioning injuries after the Women's loss.
If you have aspirations of playing professionally and you can't handle the coach saying you "played awful today" when you played awful today, then you will never survive the media spotlight in the NBA. I've never heard Woodson say anything that a 20 year old man should have any trouble hearing.
Woodson ultimately owns the results of this team, I'm not happy with the results either but don't think he's calling out players or not taking responsibility more than most other coaches.
Cupps has gotten more PT here this season than he would have gotten on almost any other team. I think he stays.
Yeah, he hasn’t had a chance to think about it. Or talk to anyone about it. Or to plan ahead. And as he has made it quite clear - he isn’t answering any questions about it.
Maybe so, but whether he stays or goes is an afterthought in my opinion.

When you say he, you are talking about Mike Woodson aren’t you? You can say his name, he does.
If you had 5th grade level reading comprehension, you would see that I was responding to a comment about Woodson. So it would have been to clear to everyone except you.

Woody likes him and stood up for him when he started slow. He had improved this year. He will get good stats here. Our NIL backing Woody will give him more NIL than anyone else. Seems likely he stays.
Maybe, but at some point, you want to win games and have some tourney chances along with the NIL (which he would get anywhere), so think he at least enters and looks at other options. He very well may choose to return, but would be surprised if both he and Malik do not enter draft and portal to get as much info and feedback as possible. In reality, there is zero downside to entering both
Helping your players go pro is secondary to helping Indiana University win basketball games. It's beyond embarrassing to see an 8th place quad 2 team talk about first round draft picks. Absolutely not what we want here.
I can’t imagine Gunn or Banks staying. I don’t know either of them, but from the outside looking in, my guess is transfer.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Leal get the start over Cupps today. But probably not, since the key to beating MSU is containing the guards. And Cupps moves his feet better.
A downside to entering the portal is that your current team may not welcome you back.
Not suggesting IU will do that, but they certainty could.
