Leal coming to IU.

I hope he has a good senior year in high school and fits in well with both the new and experienced players in IU b-ball.
I think its a good get, but I can't be alone on that video of Galloway is way more impressive. Galloway seems to have a better handle, just as good a shot, more athletic, and way better passing skills. Leal being ranked higher just is not passing eye test for me. Is it level of competition I'm missing?

Vids tend to over-emphasize good plays and sometimes make them seem to be common place even though they are not that common.
Trey Galloway led Culver to a near upset of LaLumiere which was the best team in Indiana so Galloway played well against high level competition. Galloway was also arguably the best player on the Adidas Gauntlet AAU National Champion that included Leal and Lander. I read where Galloway was ranked in the 60's nationally prior to an injury. Now Galloway appears to be obviously underrated nationally as a true 2-way player with a broad fundamental skillset.. Galloway is a defensive standout that brings a toughness to his game on both ends of the floor and has great court vision and pinpoint sharp passing skills. Galloway shot over 43% on 3s with Indiana elite this Summer. Galloway and Leal already have team chemistry on the floor together. Galloway's game is Ty Jerome-like of Virginia.

Their rankings seem to be on an upward trajectory. The Negative Nancy Whine and Troll Club will be beside themselves if either of them rise to top 50.

Does it matter which one of the 2 turns out better for IU if both of them are good for IU? Maybe Galloway being more impressive is more of a positive reflection on him than anything negative about Leal. Seems these guys are in the same tier as Phin and it's hard to not be excited about him leading the team for the next 3 years.

Leal and Galloway are exactly the type of players to build a winning team with.

They need to be balanced by the 7-footer/6'-11" post player(s) that can play with their backs to the basket and score, dish out, get fouled often and make free throws. And can defend inside, block shots, rebound.

Neither player is going to be a first round draft pick. Those rankings seem to put more of an over emphasis on potential. Neither Galloway nor Leal has a high ceiling, but they have high floors due to their shooting, defense and fundamentals.

That all said, we will need to surround them with talent because they can’t always get their own shots.
