Where does leadership come from on this roster?
Which player closes the door, coaches excluded, and airs out the locker room following this week's performance?
To this distant observer, this group is lacking something. Getting run-ruled and shut out in the series sweeping third game
would be pretty hard on one's self-esteem.

Season's over. Too late for those meetings.

Tournament still possible.
If you are talking about the B1G tournament, they should be among the 13 teams that will be seeded barring a huge collapse in the final two conference series with Purdue at Bart Kaufman and at Michigan. This team is too inconsistent to win the B1G tournament which is what they will have to do to make the Field of 64.

I don't know what it is about this team's hitting. It seems that instead of individual players going into a slump, the entire team goes into a slump at the same time, and it has happened multiple times this year. Some of that is because they went against a dominate pitcher, but too many times they have done it against pitchers with elevated ERAs. It will be interesting to see how the team responds with the Tuesday game at Evansville and the weekend series at Abilene Christian down in Texas.

I wish I shared your optimism that there is anything potentially remotely interesting left in this season. I'm looking forward to the offseason and seeing what staff changes there are. I've already decided I'm not getting season tickets next year, which I've had since BKF opened.

Actually, I'm not optimistic at all. Just being realistic as to where things stand. We might get a win or two in the tournament, but that is about it with season coming to a quick close, unless this team somehow manages to catch fire.

As far as staff changes, don't hold your breath. I don't think the baseball program gets much attention by Scott Dolson with his focus on the "money sports." Hopefully, I'm wrong about that.

If there was going to be a change, and I doubt that will happen, it would be Glant moving on. I was looking at the team ERAs the other day for the past five season to include the present season and here they are.

2021 - Team ERA was 3.17 for the season, which was better than Iowa's team ERA this season, which was Justin Parker's last season as the IU pitching coach. The SEC programs were not about to let Parker go another season at IU and South Carolina swooped in and signed him away from IU. Parker has since been hired by Chris Lemonis as Mississippi State's pitching coach and in his two years at that program, the Bulldogs have had a team ERA of 4.17 and 4.59 which are pretty good numbers considering the power teams in the SEC and the strength of that conference.

2022 - 7.04 team ERA. This was the first season for Glant and I'm pretty sure this was last place in ERAs in the conference,

2023 - 5.27 ERA which was Glant's best season so far and this may have been in the middle of the pact within the conference.

2024 - 6.21 ERA.

2025 - 6.19 ERA so far in the season.

We have had some injuries to the pitching staff over the years, but most teams have that. It didn't help that we didn't have both Buhr and Vogel at the same time for middle relief and Buhr has just come back and is available for very short stints at this time as he works his way back from an injury suffered over a month ago.

I hope I am wrong about my assessment of this team but the Coaches remind me of my 8th and 9th Grade PE Teachers. Both years the Teachers just rolled the dodge balls out to the center of thr court and said have at it. Not much instruction going on. VBG.

I’ve never been a fan of DG, but had to admit his staff seemed to get stronger toward the end of the season. If he walks the plank, fine. But I honestly have no faith the HC can find anyone better. Burn it down. Start over. Not much pressure on Dolson to even make a brilliant hire right now. All eyes on Assembly Hall. Just do it Scott!

I don't have any "inside information", but I did hear a couple of things that suggest maybe there is some pressure within the program. I've heard that there may have been some falling out with Rollen in regards to the staff. Sounded like it was probably more Mercer, but I don't know. If that is the case, you have to think that would get Dolson's attention. Talked to another person who knows a couple recruits parent's. All are concerned about the program and one, who's son is a pitcher, flat out said the results they've expected haven't been there and they're "evaluating".

I've heard from a pretty reliable source that there are some alums that have been restless for a year or so.
