Sources: Indiana is expected to complete its roster by filling the final towo open spots with Ukrainian big man Nikita Konstantynovskyi and Alex Hemingway.

Jim works for Rivals.

(He misspelled Hemenway if are lookingfor who he's talking about)

If this is true then we really did hit a homerun this off season. Coach has to get these pieces to work together but he gets an A for team composition.

Why would Indiana finish it's roster when most people expect a flurry of activity leading into May 1?

That would be so so dumb.

Plus you have combine portal entrants that wash out.

Hell, there's top '24 HS recruits still looking for a home.

No way this is true,

Well, players won’t sign with IU just because we want them to. They’ll actually need to want to, at least a little bit.

This proposed roster is pretty good.

Cmon man. These guys have been working 24/7 since turning down the NIT. Fill the roster then take the summer off. You know that's got to be the plan, right? Lotta golf and cigars with buds to be had.

Not according to Woodson and staff haters. No one would want to come here even for the $.
Money changes everything, always has always will! Now for Woody, I certainly am not sold. I will recognize however he and this staff are about as good as it gets in the modern NIL era in getting players. They used the rules and their resources about as good as possible. Hat tip for sure on that. Now, win the big ten and make some noise in March. That will shut everyone up.

Cav, if we win the B10 and make an NCAA run, no one will shut up. It will be crazy like the old days.

But someone plz remind me, with all the recent and fast paced activity, who is/are our three point shooting specialists?
If we still have two schollys to offer, should we play our hand or upgrade?

Id say Goode and Mack will both be close to 40%, if not higher. Mack will have a monster year. He is a pro, and gonna show it this year.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Some people here will be upset until IU wins it all. They will celebrate for a day then they will start complaining about the upcoming year.

When you have more money to throw around than 99% of D1 - building an impressive roster is not the hard part.

But, yeah, I would agree that on paper we should be really, really good.
As others have pointed out, all the guys we got certainly had suitors who were offering similar $$, and they still chose IU. Heck, now we're getting guys who probably had starting opportunities elsewhere. So, yes, having a large NIL stockpile helps get several guys, but each individual still picked IU over other opportunities.

If there's anyone I'd be skeptical of getting info straight, it's Coyle. So 1) we haven't finished recruiting that I know of and still have 2 spots open. 2) Essentially we're trying to fill backup spots at this point, so we're not going to be appealing to top level guys. Maybe signing a decent HS kid is possible, but do you gamble on that kid, or take a known commodity who has proven he can help at the college level? I think the pressure is on CMW to deliver a very good team this year, so he's probably going to opt for the second option, vs gambling possibly finding someone who might only help the next coach. He needs to put the very best team on the floor this year.

No way this is true,
It’d be hard to get a top recruit or transfer now, since the starters have essentially been signed. What top player wants to be a backup? Woody is looking to fortify the bench at this stage.

Don't discount Carlyle. 37% of his shots came from 3, 66% were catch and shoots and he hit 40% on them. Then consider he'll be playing off the ball more with Rice at the 1 this year. Should see improved numbers from him even if he doesn't improve his pull up game. Has a decent midgame too ...

We have two very quick guards that can handle and shoot .. I'm happy with that.

@Victorbmyboy .... Zoom and other ball screen action has more options now, like running it opposite side if first action doesn't work and with both guards being able to pull up from 3 if they go under the screen. Should make it much harder to guard than what we've had. Add in Ballo who is known as an excellent screener ...Offense should look much better next year. Hopefully it's not post-centric as much as it has been.

Getting people to come to IU isn’t an issue for any IU coach and it never will be. Doing something with all that talent is another task entirely.
It was last year when we were out bid by SEC teams .. It was a problem for Crean after he showed how much of a douche he was. It was a problem for Miller being unable to fill in talent beyond RL and TJD.. It was a problem for Davis after he imploded and he showed how incompetent he was.. It was a problem for Knight when he decided to go fishing instead of recruiting ,... and more of a problem keeping some he did recruit.

I don't think getting people to come to IU is as easy as you make it. Seems more like you don't want to give credit where credit is due ..

RMK lost of lot of players to transferring. Yes, once some coaches looked like they were on their way out they had recruiting issues, but any coach would have issues recruiting when there are rumblings of them being run off. Woodson has an advantage in that he’ll obviously be here next season and we can pay a shitload of money for that one year. I’m not sure if knowing the coach will be here or not is as much of an issue anymore with the new transfer rules and getting paid. And don’t give me your stupid shit about giving credit. I’ve always said any coach at IU can attract top talent, way before Woodson ever showed up or was even thought of. Now I’m just waiting to see if he does anything with all this talent we have.

Hopefully, this guy has the strength to overcome the enormous reverse jinx you just threw at him... 😬🤞

Yes sir. The other one to watch will be horns with zoom. Horns is perfect for Mack. I mean we did run that some already but should be just about unstoppable with the options we have now. People need to understand how much off ball action happens quickly in those sets.

At a buddy’s house in Carmel last night. One of his friends was there with their son who had just played in a 15 and under AAU game. The player said guards aren’t particularly fond of Woodson’s system at IU, but also said he believes the two transfer guards coming in will change that. Said Rice and Carlye are light years different than what we had this past season as far as ability to get their spots and open things up for others. I asked why JHS didn’t change perceptions and he said everyone knew JHS would be good no matter where he went. It was just interesting to talk to a younger player about how they see things. No, I’m not putting anyone’s name on here, so don’t ask. Just passing along the gist of the conversation.

I for one would like to stand pat without giving the LAST scholly to see who jumps into the portal on May 1. I have seen several Clemson games that Hemenway has played in and I would definitely take him on our team.

No credit is given for accumulating talent. Credit is given for winning, and doing it within the rules with kids who are student athletes. Purdue is winning. IU needs to be winning more.

It is downright embarrassing to have guys getting to the NBA from an IU team that can't even make the 68-team field. Talk about not maximizing potential.

At least when Knight barely squeaked out 19 wins, A) he still made the tourney, B) he did it with guys like Luke Jiminez or Lyn Washington, C) you could expect his players to graduate and represent the university instead of play one year and bolt to the NBA, and D) his teams were better than the sum of their parts.

A good litmus test for Woodson is seeing if he can finish top 4 in the league and make the tourney the next 2 years. That isn't even that high of a bar, but it's what is needed to get back to the point where Indiana has a reciprocating winner like Teri Moren has.

You’ll get no argument that RMK was a fantastic coach and got the most out of his teams. Unfortunately, all too often the “most” was a first round exit.

Which is crazy. If you know what you are looking at anyway. Woodson runs the same sets as everyone does. Problem he’s had is guys wouldn’t take the shots. Won’t have that problem next year.

With our current roster, expectations should be a final four. We will have the most talent in the big ten next season.

Could be that outside of JHS, we haven’t had guards capable of running it, which makes everything else look bad. Like i said, the player I was talking with said the perception will likely change after this coming season with far more capable personnel.

My preference would be to acquire the absolute best defensive wing who can guard 2 through 4.

A guy that can be on the floor and dominate defensively and on the glass the last 4 or 5 mins of a game where IU is leading by 12.

That’s bc the 15yo was fed that opinion by the adults in his life that may/may not know wtf they’re talking about.
Oh, right, I forgot you were there talking to this kid too. It had nothing to do with the kid being almost 16, having played and watched bball his whole life and already being recruited. Not to mention his friends who are already in college, or getting ready to go. Yeah, his opinions had nothing to do with any of that.

The kid’s father was surprisingly hands-off. At least that’s the vibe I got. Never gave an opinion and was mostly “this is all him, wherever he wants to go, whoever he wants to play for”

150% The next time I ask any 15 (or under) kid anything of any significance will be the first. They simply don’t know. Perceptions can be manipulated in mysterious ways.

Of course he has to win ..

This is the recruiting period not the season.. got it. *eyeroll*

fwiw - I don't look for a negative when something is done correctly. In ths case there isn't a single fail. Unless you count McNeeley which last years news.

Getting the top class in the portal was done correctly. If he didn't and we still lacked guards ..ya'll would be whining like entitled little children, again...

Criticize him when he fails to win a game .. or when players don't live up to hype, or when he smokes a cigar or something.
