Kevin Stallings was fired after TWO seasons at Pitt after a promising coaching stint at Vandy.

So does this mean he is available and you want to replace Archie with Stallings

Could the mods ban this infantile cry baby Purdue fan? Got to give Archie more than 1 recruiting class to install his culture at IU.

I'm just stating that some programs fire coaches before year 4 or 5. Iowa is another they fired Licklighter in year 3. Lickliter had taken Butler to two sweet sixteens in 5 or 6 seasons at Butler. Just stating facts that's all.

Guys, it is a rebuild. Let him get his recruits. The reason it is a rebuild is Crean spent his wad and couldn’t deliver. The first 3-4 years don’t count. The next five was 2 big ten titles and a couple of sixteens. Not good enough.

That is beyond crazy. He did not have time to get his players in and install a culture. Same for Todd Lickliter at Iowa fired after three years. You need a full recuiting cycle minimum and four to six years to build a culture.

I just suffered through 9 years of a rebuild.
Your suppose to be in a continual patience mode for constant rebuilds. Do you not get it patience is required at all times and maybe after six years you can start to judge a coach.

And per Fred this is not just any rebuild. This is a major rebuild so we maybe talking 8 years before you can judge.

Don’t mind that LSU was 2-16 in the SEC just two season ago and now they are 10-1 after winning at Rupp. That’s just pure luck probably have great players.

Now, now.....you know it is a full 15 years for a rebuild. You aren’t giving enough recruiting cycles to get us where we need to be.

I concur. It takes 4 years to get all his players. Add on another 5 years to develop his culture and finally 6 more years to get the right chemistry.

We’ve only won 4 big ten games. Pretty sad.....

What's funny is what got Stallings in trouble was because he was a yeller and screamer.

He was supposedly a massive prick to everyone around him that he had no one in his corner.

He supposedly told a player that he was going to ****ing kill him and had to be held back...if you believe Titus and Tate as they were laughing over the story.

Maybe all you need is Archie to throw a vase at Glass's ad min and you'll get him.

At the beginning of the year we were picked to finish in the upper division of the Big. Now we are rebuilding. SMH

To be fair, the win at Rupp was because the refs missed an obvious goaltend to end the game.

I totally agree. It is a complete fluke that Brad Underwood has Illinois rolling in his 2nd year without a culture and without his own recruits. Same deal with Chris Mack. They need to understand you need a minimum of four years with your own players and six years of a culture before you can get something going. You simply cannot have success until year three minimum and likely not until year five.

UI 10-15
IU 13-11

I guess you just look at the last few games to make a point but look at the total body of work

Overall record Illinois
Underwood 24-33

Overall record at IU
Miller 29-26

Neither is any good but to say Underwood has them turned around and Miller is not getting the job done is not quit accurate.

Scott, I don't think it is entirely about the record, but rather a desire to see a trend, or evidence of improvement. It's possible that this team will turn things around and finish strong. OTOH, it's not crazy to wonder if things are actually getting worse.

There are a couple of ways that things could go, and I am not placing odds on either scenario.

1. We could bounce back at the Barn, go on a run (win out at home, getting some quality home wins) and set ourselves up for improvement for next year. Bring back a solid core of players that buy into Archie's system, lose a couple of people that may not be helping in the locker room, etc.

2. Unfortunately, we could also see this spiral out of control. And if that happens ...... could we be looking at a totally new starting 5 next season? I don;t want to speculate, but if we lost 7 players I wouldn't be one bit surprised. And if that happens? The rebuild would be starting in his 3rd year. UGLY.

Not sure the program can handle a long rebuild. IU basketball as a program is on life support right now.

I would agree and I do think we will see at least 2 to 3 transfers after the season. I just think it is idiotic to say Underwood has turned UI around based on the last 4 games. It is just like when we were 12-2 and people thought we had turned it around. You have to look at the body of work and not just a snap shot of the season.
