Kentucky vs. IU (6/5): Lack of clutch hitting ends IU's season, 4-2...

You have to pitch, which is difficult when you routinely get used for over 100 pitches a game. Something lost on Indiana baseball fans. When I played AAA you’d never see this. It was hard for me to watch all season, and I made about 80% of all home and away games since February.

You don’t understand if you’ve never done it and just repost the radio broadcast to a message board.
Pitch all you want....You go 1-17 with RISP,it aint gonna matter.

Well, time for dinner I guess. I’ll check back later to read whatever misguided fiction gets posted.

Good season. Very proud of this team and especially the pitchers given the grind they had.

T9th:

It's the 8 thru 1 hitters up and Cerny K'd to leadoff. Serruto flied out for the 2nd out. Glasser singled with two outs.

Whalen grounded out to end the game and the season.

Call it sour grapes, but I have more reason to dislike the Wildcats after some of the crap that went on with our games with them. However, in this game, we simply beat ourselves.

UK 4 IU 2 (Final)

At least the PU has had a steady strike zone. Very fair, and not always seem on the college level.
He was good for 6+.....He got out of sorts in the 7th and 8th. Strike 3 to end the 8th was not even close.

Strike one and 2 to start the 9th were terrible....You cannot give down and off....You give that, and you turn dudes into Cy Young.

Cannot go 1-17 with RISP.....Had lead off on in 7 of 9 innings.....2nd/3rd with one out in the 8th,and dont score----Cannot win doing that.

Can laugh at my post all ya want...Thats cool. His zone was really solid for 6...7th/8th he was bad. If you think Strike 3 to tend the 8th was good,well...........

9th inning---first two pitches were down and off. You cannot get that pitch at this level.

I tracked the pitches electronically. You have no idea what you’re posting about. I’m in the box at almost every game. You want the exact percentages of pitches the PU got wrong today?

Come on, be a man, Indiana got beat fair and square.

Sorry that IU got put out but they had a heck of a season. Probably just as well that they are going home. Mercer got just about all he could get from this pitching staff and the injuries they have. Very proud of the team and staff.
Let's get em next year!
Go Hoosiers!

Looking forward to next year
We were considered at least a year away and was picked for 6th in the B1G, so it was a huge, successful season although it didn't end the way we would have liked.

We have most of our position players back and pitchers like Sinnard (hope it's not a Tommy John situation for him), Kraft, Yoho, Foley with his high 90s heat, and Risedorph to build on with the pitching.

I don't know if Ellis will come back after missing just about the entire season with an injury, but his big bat would be welcomed. You would think he wouldn't want his college career at IU to end that way.

I worked in the ACC,MSC(NAIA) GLVC(D2)---Worked NCAA D2 regionals twice.......NAIA tournament and conference tournament. I worked in the Prospect league...Carolina league. I agve up college baseball to work college basketball---also at the D1 level.

I've been named NAIA District Umpire of the Year Twice....

I now only work HS baseball, but fill in for the River States conference...

Graduated from Pro-school, and used as an "on-call" umpire for Lousiville Bats and Columbus.

I've worked 14 Sectionals/6 regionals/3 Semi-States in 17 years of HS baseball..

Twice named Indiana HS Umpire of the Year..

Anymore ****ing questions ?

Yes.

You must have worked the Carolina League when that was A advanced. What years? Slim chance I pitched when you were there. I was only there less than a month though before moving up to AAA.

It was a game where one team got the clutch hits in the few times they had scoring opportunities while the other team (IU) had multiple chances and mostly came up empty. When you have a player on 3rd and no outs and that player is left there, and then you had another situation where a runner was on 3rd with one out, and we couldn't bring him in, then we know why we lost. We have to look in the mirror and say we blew a big opportunity. It was still a very successful season with next season looking very promising also, but we need to strengthen our bullpen, and that was where UK had an edge in the regional.

We outhit UK 10-6 and we were 10 of 35 for a team average of .286 while UK was 6 of 29 for an average of .207. We had three players with a multi-hit game and here are some stats.

Glasser: 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Whalen: 2 for 4 with a double, and an RBI.
Jessee: 2 for 3 and a run scored.
Taylor had a double on his lone hit.

Both teams had one error apiece.

Bothwell, after a shaky first inning, pitched really well and kept IU in the game until he started running out of gas in the 6th. Regardless of the four runs charged to Bothwell, IU got what they needed out of him against a team that hits the ball really well, but we just didn't give him any run support to speak of. Risedorph and Kraft pitched the final 2.2 innings and pitched well. Here are the pitching stats:

Bothwell: 5.1 IP, 3 hits which included 2 doubles, 4 runs all earned, 7 Ks, 3 BBs, and 1 hit batter.
Risedorph: 2.1 IP, 3 hits to include a double, no runs, 3 Ks, 1 BB, and the rest of his slate was clean.
Kraft: 0.1 IP, and Kraft faced just one batter and got a ground out to finish the 8th.

2012-14---And yes, Advanced "A" ball. I got offered AA, but felt my best shot was at the college level. $$$ was A LOT better....as were the hotels. ---Independent ball, Carolina League, etc....was shit pay, long drives and do sleep.
