UK is the home team for this game.

IU will start LHP Ty Bothwell with an ERA of 6.51 in 27.2 IP with a WHIP of 1.66. The lineup and batting order are back to the same with Cerny back in there hitting in the 8-hole. Bothwell has been pitching much better of late and here's hoping he continues that tonight. It's do or die tonight so all of our primary pitchers should be available with the obvious exception of Sinnard.

UK will start RHP Darren Williams with an ERA of 4.01 in 58.1 IP with a WHIP of 1.21.

It's 81 degrees and sunny with the wind NNE at 11 mph out toward the RF foul pole.

It's a sold-out crowd that are here and hoping the UK players continue to add the bruises to their body.

1st Inning:

T1st:

Glasser reached on an infield hit to lead off.

Whalen hit an RBI double to get IU on the board quickly and no outs.

Taylor fouled out to 1B.

Whalen easily stole 3rd and UK didn't even try to throw over there with the big jump that Whalen had.

Tibbitts, who has been money at the plate this season, K'd on a full count when we needed to put the ball in play and there are two outs.

Mathison K'd to retire the side and if he and Tibbitts had put the ball in play we might have had another run.

B1st:

The leadoff hitter singled to put a runner on. Bothwell then went from an 0-2 count to a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs and we could use a K right here.

Bothwell then walked the next batter on four pitches and we are not getting the good Bothwell in this game in the most important game of the season.

A SF scored a run to tie the game with runners on the corners and one out.

Another SF gave UK a 2-1 lead with two outs, and the back-to-back walks cost IU big time.

Bothwell then got a K to end the inning.

So, Darren Williams is the Jess Settles of college baseball? Seven years of college down the drain?

Much of that high ERA came early in the season and Bothwell has pitched much better of late. He got off to a bad start, but hopefully he will settle down in the 2nd.

2nd Inning:

T2nd:

It's the 6-8 hitters up and Pyne singled thru the left side.

Jessee walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs.

A single by Cerny to RF loaded the bases with no outs and Serruto up.

On a ball hit by Serruto to 3B, Pyne must have thought it was a line drive that was caught and he started to retreat back to 3rd, but he was then easily forced out at home.

It was the top of the order up for IU with Glasser up.

Serruto was out at 2nd on a FC with Glasser beating the throw at 1st as IU ties the game with Jessee scoring.

Whalen was up with runners on the corners and two outs. Whalen grounded out to retire the side.

B2nd:

Bothwell was back out there to face the bottom of the order and here's hoping he has shaken that shaky 1st inning off.

Bothwell had a much better inning and put them down in order to end the inning.

3rd Inning:

T3rd:

It's the 3-5 hitters up with Taylor leading off. Taylor hit a leadoff double on a ball that may have been lost in the sun.

The pitcher then committed an throwing error on a pickoff attempt at 2nd and Taylor took 3rd with no outs.

Tibbitts then K'd for the 9th time in the regional which is very unusual for him. One out and Taylor still at 3rd.

Incredible, we had a guy at 3rd and no outs and UK gets a K, a pop out to the catcher, and a lineout to 2nd, and Taylor was stranded at 3rd. We could have had at least four runs right now with runners on 3rd and less than two outs on two occasions.

B3rd:

It's the top of the order up for UK and their best hitter up. Bothwell K'd the first two batters for two outs.

An error by Pyne at 3B on a bobbled ball put a runner on 1st and two outs.

Bothwell then got his 3rd K of the inning to end it, and he has really come on since that 1st and just went through the most dangerous part of their order.

Our #5 hitter, supposedly our best batter has his head up his own backside also! 2 strikeouts and swinging at terrible pitches!

4th Inning:

T4th:

It's the bottom of the order up and Jessee singled to leadoff.

A FC got Cerny at 1st with Jessee moving into scoring position at 2nd with one out.

Serruto K'd with Jessee still at 2nd and two outs, and Glasser flied out to retire the side.

B4th:

It's the 5-7 hitters up for UK. Bothwell got the first two batters on a K and GO, and Bothwell is dominating the hitters since that 1st, and another GO ended the inning as they go down in order.

5th Inning:

T5th:

The Wildcats brought in another pitcher in RHP Mason Moore with an ERA of 2.17 in 45.2 IP.

With the 2-4 hitters up, Whalen singled for the 5th straight inning of IU getting a leadoff single.

Taylor hit into a DP for two quick outs.

Tibbitts grounded out to retire the side. Tibbitts has been one of our more reliable hitters this season and he has just plain had an off game so far.

B5th:

Bothwell was back out there with a PC of 67 and he faced the 8 thru 1 hitters. Bothwell's domination continued as he K'd the first two batters and we are at the top of the order with UK's best hitter up.

Bothwell hit the batter in the elbow with two outs. A deep fly to RF was caught by Taylor near the line to end the inning.

IU pitcher needs to start throwing 95 mph heat inside to move the batters off the plate. These hbp are ridiculous

Ugggh...

Bases loaded no outs......runner at third no outs.....runner at second,no outs... Only get one run.

Not good, Bob...

6th Inning:

T6th:

It was the 5-7 hitters up with Mathison and Pyne both went down for two outs. Jessee then singled up the middle to put a runner on.

A WP moved Jessee to 2nd. Cerny K'd to retire the side and IU has outhit UK 8-1 so far but are having problems getting those clutch hits when needed.

B6th:

Bothwell was back out there to face the 3-5 hitters. On a 3-2 count, Bothwell gave up a double to the leadoff hitter.

A FC got the runner at 1st with the runner on 2nd taking 3rd.

Another double gave UK the lead at 3-2 with one out. Bothwell may be running out of gas as he walked the next batter on a 3-2 count to put runners on 1st and 2nd and one out.

Mercer went to the bullpen and brought in RHP Brayden Risedorph with an ERA of 4.68 in 50 IP. It was a good outing for Bothwell, but IU just couldn't give him the run support he needed.

A double off the wall scored another run with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, and it's 4-2 UK.

An infield pop up resulted in two outs. Risedorph then got a big K to limit the damage and end the inning.

7th Inning:

T7th:

It's the 9 thru 2 hitters up for IU. Serruto walked after going 0-2 in the count to put the leadoff hitter on and the top of the order up in Glasser.

Glasser singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs.

A SAC bunt by Whalen moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out.

Taylor K'd in a crucial situation for two outs and that has been our story tonight when we got runners in scoring position.

Tibbitts, who is having a bad game at the plate, grounded out and another scoring chance has gone bye-bye.

B7th:

It's the top of the order up and the leadoff hitter fouled out deep to LF. Risedorph then got the next batter on a flyout to LF.

A single put a runners on with two outs. The runner on 1st stole 2nd. A K ended the inning.

8.7% Probability now. I have to say the Kentucky fans are as classy as any fan base I’ve seen this year.

Texted former college assigner, asked who that was(on plate)---He replies,"Why"? Im like,"hes been terrible pasttwo innings---strike 3 there was 6" off..." He SNAPS--"COULD YOU DO BETTER???!!!--

Me---"DUnno. But that doesn'tchange the facthe'sbeen terrible last two innings..."

8th Inning:

T8th:

It's the 5-7 hitters up and IU has six outs to do something with Mathison leading off.

Mathison and Pyne grounded out for two outs. Jessee K'd looking on a bad call at the plate and IU goes down in order and has just three more outs to pull this game out.

B8th:

It's the 5-7 hitters up with Risedorph back out there. Risedorph got the leadoff hitter on a K.

Risedorph then walked a batter on a 3-1 count with one out. Cerny saved what looked like a hit up the middle with a diving catch for out No. 2 and the runner at 1st.

A single thru the left side of the infield put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs.

Mercer went to the bullpen to bring in LHP Ryan Kraft with a 2.49 ERA in 61.1 IP.

A FC got the runner at 2nd to end the inning.

UK 4 IU 2

You have to pitch, which is difficult when you routinely get used for over 100 pitches a game. Something lost on Indiana baseball fans. When I played AAA you’d never see this. It was hard for me to watch all season, and I made about 80% of all home and away games since February.

You don’t understand if you’ve never done it and just repost the homer radio broadcast to a message board.

At least the PU has had a steady strike zone. Very fair, and not always seem on the college level.
