Johnson is a proven recruiter and I think his addition makes a lot of sense. I'll start trying to find out if he has any immediate connections with high school players or portal prospects that will pay quick dividends for the 2025 roster.

I posted this on the Portal thread as well but Kenny Johnson was a coach and operations guy for Team Takeover, a very successful AAU program that tends to send players to program with Team Takeover connections. Xavier decommit and top 100 point guard Nyk Lewis (who IU has reached out to but I don't know if the two sides are serious about mutual interest) played for...you probably guessed it, Team Takeover. That might not matter AT ALL but if IU gets serious about making Nyk Lewis a class of 2025 take, it won't hurt.

You can pay players now. I'm not even certain what a violation would be now. I suppose as long you stop during a dead period and not use drugs/alcohol/prostitutes to recruit, you should be ok. I'm not even certain about those.

But to the IU Compliance department there can certainly still be all kinds of violations. I think they may get mad though if they self report and the NCAA ignores them.
