There is no greater risk for these white Afrikaaners than there are those on the wrong side of gang disputes, political persecution, etc in more traditionally war torn, civil strife driven situations. Wanna hear something extraordinary? My wife's family farm in Zimbabwe (just north of SA) is black owned. Black run. All black workers. They get robbed contstantly. Not at the main house but you can't leave hoses or shit around. It'll be gone. They get squatters constantly (it's about 350-400 acres) and have to run them off. Heard a guy on NPR a couple days ago who was a SA Afrikaner. He basically said this was a Wag the Dog kind of deal, and Trump and his people are just spreading bullshit for political gain, but really none of this oppression is actually happening. Whites still own most of the land, have a much easier time finding work, and are also directly involved in government, as the largest primarily white party is the #2 party in the governing coalition.

What percent of legal immigrants have and are making valid contributions to this country compared to illegal immigrants? One thing I do hate about whites leaving Southern Africa is the loss of knowledge and brain drain as well as the loss of investment in the farming industry. Obviously, i know the blacks in Southern Africa can farm. But there is generational wealth in farming and it's tough on the whole populace when it leaves.

While I do agree that some level of assimilation is necessary, count me in on immigrants maintaining some level of their own beliefs and traditions. I think the country is better for the majority of people who learn to work together and experience diversity and other walks of life.
I certainly don't think it should be a hard-line legislated requirement that immigrants need to speak english, be capitalists, or even believe in the constitution before entering the country. Obviously they'll sink or swim here if they don't fall in line with those things to varying degrees, but those are hardly obstacles that can't be overcome.

Pre-1965 the ability to assimilate was arguably the most weighed factor in immigration. And even then people were skeptical about eastern and southern Europeans.
It should be a requirement that refugees are not antagonistic to American society which would include a belief in Sharia law or collectivism.

I’m going to throw out my daughter’s experience with refugees again. Afghans are highly educated, generally speak good English, and adapt well. But because most of them are of Muslim faith and have dark skin they are no longer welcome. I just want to get rid of the hypocrisy
