Julian Lewis visiting May 31st

I hope Lewis shocks so many and chooses IU as we can get excited about the big improvement in the team. If he doesn't come to IU it won't be a big loss based the QBs we have already and the coaching they now get. Bringing in a top QB will advance the timetable for turning IU around.

Just getting this kid on campus and the press that surrounds that is a win. He will have a nice time, I'm sure. He'll say as much in a dozen post visit interviews. He most likely won't commit here but that kind of press is gold. Other top recruits we see it and possibly visit. We may get some of them. Keep playing the game Coach Cig.

I hope Lewis falls in love with Bloomington and IU, cancels his other visits and commits to IU. Now back to reality, I hope he has a great visit giving him something to consider.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a gorgeous day. They should roll out the red carpet for him, maybe get Sydney Parrish to escort him around.

I really believe there is a good chance he considers hard that being a Hoosier is his future. For 1 thing he'll rightfully be damned impressed with the WR, RB and with any exposure he receives from BB and his OL prowess. Add those positives to the offense of Cignetti, Sunseri and Shanahan is a pretty strong hand to play with. A good chance!

I'm with you when you're right :)

It’s a long shot, but QBs can successfully showcase themselves for the NFL at smaller programs. Fingers crossed.
That's good expansion on the list of other positives. He's got eyes and the ears to listen to the answers to what I would think will be some pretty targeted Q's. Even though its been middling Indiana, being in the company of those 4 coaches is an education. Nick's, BuffaLouie's and the ladies VB team are also a strong attraction for a high flying QB.

It is nice to know that the volleyball team has some strong attractions, since they along with the football used to be the only two teams on campus during camp. It was nice when they reported and it was more than your roommates to look at in the dining room. Of course a lot of folks on here thought it would be beneficial to box the volleyball team out of the weight room. Not sure about that one.

Appreciate the more descriptive thought!

We can hope that what JUJU is looking for in college he found with our coaches and campus. The parts of the team have been changed by these coaches and I expect we will see a much better IU team this Fall. Do that and get a couple unexpected wins and Lewis may reconsider his views of IUFB.

If Indiana even ever had a chance for this kid, I imagine those slim odds could fall on IU having a potent offense this season. If they are throwing the ball all over the place and our QB1 looks great, then the relationships won't be the only enticing part of coming to Bloomington.

As has been posted, his mere presence on an official visit, and his family speaking well of IU, is an awesome step for our program.

I think its obviously most likely, even if we do get a verbal from him at some point soon, that he'll ultimately end up at a bigger and more traditionally powerful school. There's so much movement any more, and later movement, that it'd be tough to hold off all the big schools that end up needing a QB.

Gotcha. Except for the fact recruiting still has so much to do with relationships. IUFB'S Sunseri has a long and strong relationship with this QB. Also the the dynamic never before in the halls of MS is the organized process brought in by Cignetti and his staff. They have been nothing but on an upward trajectory in recruiting. Give hell IUFB!

The relationship with JuJu & his family could come into play a year or two down the road, if his initial decision sours & IU actually becomes relevant in the meantime. There was no down side to hosting him, and I’m sure it raised a few eyebrows among coaches & recruits alike.

How much will schools paying salaries negate the effect of boosters? Will IU be able to pay an equal salary to it's peers in the B1G and more than the Big 12, ACC, and G5?

We will have the same direct payment cap as everyone else (and I expect most/all B1G schools use all of that cap) so salaries can be equal. Booster NIL can layer on top of that which is where differentiation is most likely to occur. How we and other schools decide to allocate the aggregate funding between sports will be a key variable.

If schools actually start paying athletes direct then they would be insane not to put in place a salary cap immediately. The students will unionize shortly after. I actually don't hate it. Education, Salary, housing and medical seem like no brainer compensation.

Then a time frame will be put on the contract. Thus limiting transfers unless both parties agree

The NCAA doesn't want a salary cap, although that is basically what they are proposing.

If it gets called a salary cap, the athletes would become employees, which the NCAA definitely doesn't want.
