As a 9 seed playing Notre Dame in South Bend. Would love that. But unless ND loses to Southern Cal, they are going to be higher than an 8.
If we can’t get a home game, this is probably the next best thing. While tickets may not be plentiful for IU, weather permitting, would be a great scene for IU folks to show up by the thousands in SB. Been years since have been to a game there, but do they still show the game on big screen in the basketball arena? As a 9 seed playing Notre Dame in South Bend. Would love that. IU fans, nor any visiting fan, can show up “by the thousands.” The visiting team gets the normal allotment of tickets just as if it were a regular season game, which is around 2,500 tickets. Same would hold true if IU hosts a game. It’s going to be a true home game for the higher seed.If we can’t get a home game, this is probably the next best thing. I’ve lived in South Bend. If it’s 2,500 tickets, they’ll be taken by IU fans. There’s an awful lot of crimson up there. Sports bars and the like were always packed with cream and crimson during IU games.IU fans, nor any visiting fan, can show up “by the thousands.” The visiting team gets the normal allotment of tickets just as if it were a regular season game, which is around 2,500 tickets. But it’s the reversible jacket fans you’re seeing. They only care about the basketball program. They aren’t showing up for football. IU will have no issue selling out its small allotment of tickets for the game but don’t expect to see 10,000 IU fans inside of Notre Dane stadium just because SouthBend has IU people are in the area. I would bet many of those same fans are attending ND games in full ND gear during the year and then when basketball rolls around, out come the red jackets and dust off the mothballs.I’ve lived in South Bend. I don’t expect to see 10k up there. And all the ones I knew, or talked to, were IU alumni. I lot of those reversible jacket fans traded in their jackets back when RMK was fired. I’m sure there are still some, but the ones I knew were hardcore IU.But it’s the reversible jacket fans you’re seeing. They only care about the basketball program. I imagine there will be plenty more than the allotment of 2500 for the first time IU has had a good team in forever. I imagine I’ll be getting mine off resale, as I’d guess thousands of others will too. Maybe not 10,000 but significantly more than the allotment.IU fans, nor any visiting fan, can show up “by the thousands.” The visiting team gets the normal allotment of tickets just as if it were a regular season game, which is around 2,500 tickets. In 2030 and 2031, I believe.Wasn’t Iu supposed to play ND?
That's a bit high for us from Jerry Palm, isn't it?As a 9 seed playing Notre Dame in South Bend. Would love that. But unless ND loses to Southern Cal, they are going to be higher than an 8.

I know a ND season ticket holder who has already been selected for his 4 seats that he has for the regular season with the opportunity to purchase up to 12 more for only $250 a piece. They are going to struggle without the students on campus, especially so close to the holidays. There will be plenty of secondary market tickets available for that game. But it’s the reversible jacket fans you’re seeing. They only care about the basketball program. Not with that back up qb and defense. ND will roll.I predict ND will lose to USC. That would make 2 losses to unranked teams for ND….it should boot them from the CFP but who knows how the politics work.
I would be shocked if ND stadium is overtaken by opposing fans in a playoff game. The few examples where large groups of visitors got seats there are during regular season games when the team was down. This is a playoff game. Not going to happen. If we went to ND, there would be a lot of IU fan interest in going to that game, and there are a lot of IU fans within close driving distance (duh).
It's not uncommon for ND's stadium to be taken over. IU wouldn't quite be like the UGA or OSU games there, but there would be quite bit of red in the crowd.
I am getting too far ahead -- we've got to beat PU first and they have to win at USC.
They have to put 7 at large teams in though, and with the SEC teams seriously cannibalizing themselves, ND could easily get in with another loss. Probably not likely, there will be enough B10, SEC, and probably a 2nd ACC team, that would have better cases. But the more SEC candidates that lose, the better chance a 2 loss ND team would have.I predict ND will lose to USC. Although, the reversible jacket crowd will be in a bit of a bind because IU basketball plays Dec 21st at home against Chattanooga and if this game ends up being one of the 3 games they play on….yep….Dec 21st, what on earth will they do?🤣
If ND loses to USC I see them as the last team in playing at whoever loses the B1G title game. They have to put 7 at large teams in though, and with the SEC teams seriously cannibalizing themselves, ND could easily get in with another loss. Agree. Most of the reversible jacket crowd are not grads or donors to either IU or ND. They aren't season ticket holders in either sport at either place. Mostly, they just switch the channel from NBC to BTN and go back to Wal Mart or Rally House ( depending on their income) for different gear when December rolls around. No, there would be quite a bit of red in the crowd.
The reversible jacket crowd isn’t that big. Plenty of IU fans would hit the secondary market.
I’ve got to think that the “reversible jacket” crowd, whatever remains of it, has to be shrinking, with IU football now a rocket ship and bball on a somewhat uneven trajectory. No, there would be quite a bit of red in the crowd.

South Bend and the surrounding cities have lots of IU Alumni. There is an IU campus in South Bend.I’ve lived in South Bend. If it’s 2,500 tickets, they’ll be taken by IU fans. This is what I’m afraid of. If U.S.C. finally plays a complete game (they’ve reminded me a lot of the old IU in that regard of losing multiple games they’ve led much of the way only to lose late this season) they should beat ND. I believe the Trojans are now 6-5 and bowl eligible. Losing to an underachieving SC team, coupled with the obvious worse loss of any team in consideration for the CFP (NIU), should eliminate ND from the conversation once and for all!! But, I can totally see the goofy committee putting them in, well, because they’re ND. And that means someone else is out. Hopefully not IU.They have to put 7 at large teams in though, and with the SEC teams seriously cannibalizing themselves, ND could easily get in with another loss. I agree. USC is better defensively this year but I still think ND will be able to run the ball at will and control the clock. ND's defense is elite and should hold USC in check. ND would have to implode to lose this one. I think there's a better chance Tennessee loses to Vanderbilt.I think Notre Dame is good. Seriously doubt they will lose to USC.
Anything is possible. But USC hasn't exactly turned up the wick, they still play up or down to their competition. Better the last four games, yes, but I think that won't be enough against Notre Dame. Not that Notre Dame is great but they have some continuity now, they're decent.
I hope Indiana gets in, and draws ND.
,
Ahhh, but, Lincoln Riley's job could very well be on the line after the season USC's had? The ND game could be LRs make or break game? If we factor that in, I think that makes the USC-ND game a very big game for the Trojans.I think Notre Dame is good. Seriously doubt they will lose to USC.

I looked, his buyout is $90M!Ahhh, but, Lincoln Riley's job could very well be on the line after the season USC's had? The ND game could be LRs make or break game? If we factor that in, I think that makes the USC-ND game a very big game for the Trojans.
Yes, plus he & his family get lifetime use of USC Lear jets & they sold his house for him in Norman, OK & they bought him a new home in the LA area when he took the job. That's how bad USC wanted/needed him take the job when they hired him back in 11/2021.I looked, his buyout is $90M!
OU and USC would make a great bowl game...
