Man, this game is about four times faster than an IU team can play today. It’s almost exhausting. The level of play is so far above what we’ve come to expect.

The 60-minute version on BTN.

I’m hopeful we can see this again. Say what you will about Crean but this Hoosier team would beat today’s by 50-60 points.

And, the guard play, with Yogi and Hulls. Good grief.

If you're watching an IU v. Michigan game:

(was sitting behind the basket, about 10 rows up, on the side Michigan was shooting at in the 2nd half)

This is the Michigan game I'll always remember being at. Edwards had such a sweet stroke.

This season was one of Knight's best jobs of coaching. We won the B1G after not looking very good at the beginning of the year. Seeing the late Eric Anderson made me sad. He left this world too soon.

That was the best team in the country. I remember thinking that they had a shot to win it all after they went & won at 5th ranked MSU. Sigh.

I watched it. We were fortunate UM miss the front end of 2 1-and-1s in the last minutes when we were down 5 points with 52 seconds to go.

Sheehey had a couple of timely 3s.

One thing that team had that we don't have was Oladipo. And Zeller. I wasn't really impressed with Yogi in this game.

It was fun to watch those guys again. What I think sepates that team from what we have today is that team hustled and sold out every play. They were quick to the ball and scrapped. Talent-wise, I'm not sure they were much better than what we have this year.

Well, no shit. 2 hour game in 1 hour means playback speed was set to 2x. Of course they look faster!

Note: this is a joke.

Happiest I remember seeing RMK…
He was like a kid at the end of that game.

Sure wish Jay had stayed his 4 years...... He had as much natural talent as any player I've ever seen. And he never looked like he was trying hard. He always had a great shot, but his defense was also excellent.

it’s funny if you watch it, it’s almost like he caught himself, but for a few seconds, it was pure, unadulterated joy, & it was beautiful….

Exactly. He was jumping around, waving his arms, before he even realized it. Probably the only time he's done that. Showed he really was human.

That team on paper was not that talented but killed it.

We've had some epic wins against Michigan. Alford's senior year, he made the winning shot and ran right off the court. That team really battled.
Alford had graduated. I was in Hawaii in a hotel watching with my dad as a kid. We starting dancing around when he made that shot

Hated cheaters
Wasn't really that. At one time they got along from Frieder's days with Johnny Orr. Soon after getting the head coaching job, he was having trouble with the local media. When Indiana came to town, he asked RMK to defend him and he did. During the game, RMK got into it with the refs and got T'd up. He kept after the refs and Frieder yelled at the refs to give him another. That basically ended their relationship.
