Jan 20 2025 price of gas

My response is compared to what ? Here's what... US has been the largest producer of oil years before Biden. We had pretty much become self sufficient with only 11% imported. Oil production pace was on a climb until Biden. Then it took 4 years to pass what previously had been a record in million metric tons. 4 YEARS is a long time in the oil industry. And a significant amount of that oil is exported due to environmental, political and economic problems. Our infrastructure is very poor (pipelines), foreign oil can be cheaper too. Now our imports have increased. Advances in technology specifically fracking and horizontal drilling have helped overcome democrats opposition.

I also had the opportunity in Houston to play golf with two oil men who described how expensive it is to obtain new leases ,the red tape involved in getting leases, how the green energy people have influenced some of the investment companies that help fund oil drilling, and the layoffs that occurred. Very interesting insights from these guys. You might want to start by stop watching left wing shows.

The U.S. did not take over as the largest oil producer in the world until 2018. As for Biden, the U.S. produced more oil during his four years than during Trump's. Also, the gap between the U.S. and the next largest producer grew by quite a bit. Production tanked in 2020 due to Covid, and that production took a couple years to recover. But that had nothing to do with Biden. Production increased every year under Biden.

Yes, imports have increaed a bit - but that too had nothing to do with Biden. Exports increased more than imports during Biden's four years. And that's not because of "environmental, political and economic problems."

I’m in the market right now and looking at two “affordable areas.” The min for that size home is $600k for a non-starter house. Good times…sigh.
It really is insane. Decent hoods here are priced no differently than Delray, boca, or Lakewood ranch on the gulf. And we have no beach, no mountains, and to be honest no real city. It should cost peanuts to live here

And this (which includes crude oil, and LPG, etc.)

$3.15 for the lowest grade gas this morning in Indy. Can't wait to get back to $2/gallon! Any day now, I can feel it.
It actually should go down this spring/summer, but not from anything Trump is doing. It’s been predicted since this time last year. Don’t worry, Trump will take credit and dumbasses will give him credit.

I've told my friends who only watch Fox News the same about oil production. They literally had no idea the levels we are currently producing. Fox conveniently leaves that out of their reporting. These guys also don't understand global supply and demand.
All they see is the price at the pump. Which everyone agrees is too high. They don't, most don't, understand why the price it what it is though. They also don't understand the severe consequences of crashing oil prices enough to significantly lower gasoline prices.

On a related note, wife just went to the store and a dozen eggs are $4.17. Not the fancy ass kind either. I feel like they were $1 forever. WTF
Shelves are actually empty of the store brand of eggs at my Publix yesterday. They get them from a Georgia supplier that is 100% shut down by H5N1. So you can just get the froo-froo organic fancypants doz eggs for $6, or 6 for $4.29

I guess in the future, though, we will fire all of those scientists testing for bird flu and not take such precautions. Blissful ignorance for the win.

WTF is your problem, posting all these inconvenient facts?

This thread would be better served with focus on sexual innuendo than pointless attempts at claims. What happens when you have materially higher average oil prices? Higher profits per existing production and more investment in incremental production.

Honestly, as someone who puts MAGA above my faith, I hope Trump does what’s right by lifting more regulations and allowing people to have their eggs with the chance of bird flu. I mean, it’s just like the common cold. No need to lock down my eggs.

Patience. Inflation is a global issue. Compare how we do against other countries and revisit his performance in the years to come.

Well yeah, inflation is a global issue - especially when you have the presumptive leader of the free world slapping tariffs on everything but the air we breathe.

$3.29 @Mobil, Palm Beach Gardens

higher at Shell, of course

edit: $3.06 at Wawa in Royal Palm!

What's going on currently is no defense for what happened in 2021 which was my post. And yes we were the largest oil producer for about 50-60 years until about 1978. Your chart also shows production grew at a double digit growth from 2017-2021 (except for covid) then the growth went down to single digits although I expect when the 2024 numbers come in it will be double digits. But the pace slowed considerably.

Here is an article from Dan Eberhart CEO of Canary Drilling Services with a timeline from 2021 until changes were finally made.
