I'm sure it's just me, but it seems to me that there's a direct correlation to improved run blocking and the insertion of Jacob Bailey into the lineup at LG. He's a great complement to Dan Feeney and seems to mesh well with Jason Spriggs. I have to admit, my oldest daughter works with his dad and I have a rooting interest. Jake has battled some injury issues, but when he was in there as a red shirt freshman when Feeney was hurt, he made All Big Ten freshman team.
The running game has really picked up in recent games. A big part is because Howard is back and healthy. But also (I believe) because Jake is really playing well and the line is thriving.
