Did anyone else see the news article that appeared in the Indy Star about this kid? He just set an NCAA record by making 95 consecutive free throws over 14 games. As he attends an Indiana School, I wanted to find out more about him. He is 6'1'' 170 pound Sophomore guard from Hamilton Southeastern. I looked up his season to date stats.

Average Points per game 24.6
Field Goal P:ercentage 50.1% (174 0f 347)
3 Point Field Goals 43.00% (58 0f 135)
Free Throws 93.00 % (185 of 199)

I have no idea what kind of player this kid was coming out of high school, whether any D-1 Schools had an interest, or whether they just wrote him off as too small, too slow, with no star ratings. Obviously if he played against Big 10 Competition game after game his statistics probably wouldn't be as gaudy. However, I do know that you just don't show up for your Sophomore Year of College and shoot this effectively. This talent had to show up before.

Now we have guys who couldn't throw the ball in the ocean, and we want to chase a bunch of 6'7" wing players with 4 Star Ratings. We end up with Justin Smith with his 48" vertical leap to nowhere, instead of a kid like this who can actually shoot.

This coaching staff needs to start looking in our own backyard for a couple of kids like this instead of chasing around the country to kiss the asses of 4 star AAU players and their entourages. If you had some sort of relationship with state high school coaches you would at least hear about a kid like this so you could take a look and make up your own mind.
