20 to 30 minutes went by in between each time I had the radio on and he was ranting about Wilson each time. He has a problem, apparently, with how Coach handled the question about GameDay coming in.

Coach basically said that the team wasn't focusing on it and that they hadn't done enough, in his opinion, to be considered for Gameday. I'm not sure how else he was supposed to handle it.

I get that Dakich doesn't like Wilson but, damn, let it go a little bit.

Wilson just doesn't have the sales gene...never has, never will. The good part of that is that you don't hear a bunch of bull crap either. When coaches are winning people love the straight up approach, when they are not winning they get hated on for it, and DD loathes the guy. The entire process is predictable.

I can actually see where each are coming on both sides of this argument. Plenty of history to understand Wilson's approach. DD recognizing unique opportunity. Maybe a more PR experienced coach uses different phrasing and a radio host who doesnt repeatedly point out he's wearing an OSU shirt on sidelines at his alma mater would help?
But I'm dumbfounded by a couple of things.... Why do fans of other B1G schools hate so much about a topic (GameDay possibility) that doesn't even involve their school? Would IU fans hate on a bball visit to PSU or Rutgers if they were having a good season? The vitrol from MSU, MI and WI fans on sites like BTN is wierd. Second topic is why do some IU "fans" demean their own team/worthiness for something like this? Nuts!

Sounds like Wilson either knows or doesn't think it is going to happen. Probably the best thing was just to say " we are focusing on WF". I'm sure he is just not wanting the team to be looking ahead because every time we have been in a good situation we have laid an egg the following week.

I don't get why Wilson trying to keep the team focused on the power 5 conference road game in 3 days and not on the fantasy of College Gameday coming to the following game is the wrong approach. If anything, it would've been really foolish of Wilson to add anything to the hype of it possibly coming to Bloomington when all it does it add more pressure to the game this weekend. Dakich is just being a d-bag again and using his 1-way forum for ripping a guy who he obviously doesn't like. Wilson handled this fine and the Gameday talk is really just a nuisance to preparation for this weeks game.

Does anybody really want to see Lee Corso put on Ohio State gear with hundreds of screaming Buckeye fans in the background? Do you want the national media to focus on the fact that the game is a sellout only because the Ohio State fans travel so well? Or do you want them to focus of the competition that Ohio State has played compared to what Indiana has played? How about how Indiana has been here before and has a storied history of crapping out once the conference game starts? Or how about how the Hoosiers had the lead last year over the sleepwalking Buckeyes until that outscored IU 28-0 to end the game?

The less said the better. CKW called it the way it is. And Dakich is not thinking clearly.

Good interview with Fred Glass on Kent Sterling.

Basically says that he and Wilson have talked about it, and would welcome and be excited by Gameday coming. Also said that Wilson's comments were essentially directed at the players as they had started talking about it among themselves. Just doesn't want the anticipation to be a distraction.

I agree with CKW. We haven't done enough to fill the stadium comment but there are many great things this program needs that Gameday would help. Like getting students and fans to realize we have a football team. National recruiting exposure and some credibility. Building a program at Indiana is a longer process. Every year our recruiting has improved. Obviously getting to bowl is important but any exposure is good exposure at this point.

A few things

As it will be pregame in the tailgate area, I don't think IU will have any problem getting more than enough people to show up. Buckeye fans will be no more present than they would be at a Gameday show in East Lansing.

The competition of OSU? OSU's schedule is weak even by IU standards. A mediocre VT is their marquee opponent. After that, WKU and @Wake are tougher games than anything on OSU's schedule.

When was the last time IU was 4-0? 1990 - IU hasn't been here before in recent memory.

The fact that IU was even leading at all last year with essentially no QB is actually a plus for IU.

How many of those kids who'd be at Gameday would be at the game? Not many.

How many of them went to the WKU game? Even fewer.

Geeze dude, you left out the asteroid that would hit and wipe out the whole town. Corso has picked against the home team before and I don't think that negates the whole thing. No way OSU is going to drown out the thousands of IU fans that will show up. The are also not going to come to IU and bad mouth the Hoosiers for the entire show. They want people to watch the game. It could be huge for recruiting either way it goes as well. Got to take a chance at some point, not going to jump levels hiding our heads in the sand. The past is the past, lets go for it.

I'm sure you've heard the saying: "Any publicity is good publicity". College Game Day would be a 2 or 3 hours of free marketing for IU. I'd also be willing to bet, despite knowing OSU is a heavy, heavy favorite and probably going to win the game, that Corso picks the Hoosiers.

I don't think Corso picks IU but they will get the pic of him with the team in front of the scoreboard at Ohio Stadium

He had the picture taken in Memorial Stadium. I have it, autographed by a starter on that team. Game day isn't coming to IU. It doesn't fit the profile.

Are they bringing Katy Perry? That would be awesome. Will she want to meet Sudfeld after the game?

I turned it on 3 times too and THREW UP each time!!

As Lee Fitting stated, Gameday looks for the best story of the week not the best game. Davis vs Goliath is the story and if they feel that is bigger than the ND or AL story then they might come. IU has to win Sat first.

IU students would have creative signs, that is for sure.

Fitting did say that want to get Corso back to IU though.

He basically said that both ND and Georgia need to lose Saturday, plus an IU win, for this to be a reality.

They should come if we're 4-0. Lee Corso coached here and Kirk Herbstreit played at Ohio State, so that's a fun angle. First conference game for the defending national champs. I think even if it doesn't turn out in our favor, and we won't be favored in the game, having College Game Day in Bloomington would generate a lot of excitement for the program. Showing the country our beautiful campus is a huge plus. Plus, 49 states would probably be rooting for us (particularly those in SEC country). And what if we WIN! Could be the best day in IU football history, with all due respect to the 1945 and 1967 teams.

They have a shot, just not a good one. They already said if ND and Georgia lose then they are coming. The chances of that are very slim and they probably know that. If however it does happen by some miracle then they are pretty much committed. If they don't come and we beat OSU, (which we will) they will be sorry.

I think this is really about setting the stage for a later appearance over the next couple, seasons, but if they continue the tradition of laying eggs in the league...it may never happen.

No one remembers how great the game was AFTER Gameday....they just remember the scene DURING Gameday.

They can go to Clemson any year....this might be one of the rare occasions where Bloomington fits. Remember, a couple of years ago they went to NW...who ended up like 6-6 or something that year. What happens AFTER the show doesn't matter...

If they think they will get a hyped up, unique atmosphere, they will consider it.

However, i don't remember ND ever playing down at Clemson...so that is a unique story.

IU doesn't deserve it.

IU doesn't deserve it.
This is offensive. What does it take to "deserve" a location shoot for a pregame show?

1) Compeling storyline: OSU precarious play plus IU with a chance to turn a corner started by a deceased coach plus a homecoming for one of the icons of the program And I am not even a professional at this and I just filled 30 minutes.

2) A location that presents a picture perfect setup for the production. No doubt on this one

3) Some place not named Tuscaloosa or the other routine stops

4) A game that has some national appeal. Conference opener for defending national champs, a national mid afternoon kickoff, seems to fit the bill.

So now what criteria in your mind does it take to allow someone to deserve your approval?????

And 1988 team who won in Bloomington 41-7.
