Ladies play Harvard tonight. We played very poorly, Moren was not happy, against a less strong roster in Brown last Monday. We won but it should not have been as close.
I suspect Harvard is also not a strong roster making this a chance to improve.
Lex and Beau sat out injured without a timeline to play. Syd Fenn (Frosh) announced as a red shirt. Gives her a nice year for film study and she comes in next year with Maya (both 6’3”).
Syd Parish tweaked an ankle that seems a non issue. We will see if it becomes a nagging deal or not.
We have length but not great team speed. Shay or Lex maybe, but not a lot. We do not have a player of the year candidate and the big ten is very strong.
I think for us to be successful we will have to shoot the 3 very well, make very few mistakes, and play tenacious team defense.

Yes & no. Indiana looked sluggish & slow to react compared to Harvard. The best team won.

I have not yet been able to review the game in detail or hear Moren’s presser, but I think this points out a big flaw for us.
We just do not have that elite guy. No Page, no JuJu, etc. And those teams have at least two players who can be discussed as player of the year candidates.
This team may be the toughest test of a coach staff finding the right combination of players and the correct schemes to maximize their skills.
We are playing without Lex and Beau, and Currie Jelks has been a non factor, but we have a very veteran team.
This season may be fun to watch to see who overcomes adversity, who steps up, who takes advantage of their opportunities.

Ciezki doesn't appear to be the right piece to complete the puzzle. I heard many good hints that Beau has made some tremendous strides this summer. Maybe when she gets over the leg issue, she will help add production.

They're aren't any Berger' or Holmes.
I saw lot's of fans moaning about pre season rankings..
I'd set my expectations a bunch lower ..And hope Moren can really coach them up..

IMO you hit it dead center when you stated no team speed. We don’t match up well with teams that have fast players, and definitely not very well with quick players. That’s what hurt them last year at times.

Yes, Meister tied with Garzon for leading scorer for IU with 20. Parrish was the weak link, only getting 7 points on 7 shots and 6 fts. In two games Meister is averaging 16.5 pts and 10.5 rebounds. IU's continued problem is lack of quickness and lack of depth. IU's bench provided 7 points and 7 boards in 39 minutes combined. Moren has always run a very short bench and that hurts in recruiting depth pieces and developing younger players for starting roles in future years. Without getting a couple more elite talent transfers, she may have hit her high water mark as a coach at IU.

Yup, and a big wbb fan. I don't care about football or men's basketball for over 20 years. Football at the college level is so corrupt I cannot stand it and Concussion ruined NFL play for me, along with all the rules handcuffing the defense so you can have basketball scores in football games. Men's basketball at all levels is punking and dunking, not enough team concept plays run on offense or defense anymore, just all about athleticism and 2 man game. BORING!!! So I pay attention to all the Big Ten women's teams, and Moren being a Purdue alumnus makes her someone I especially pay attention to.

I can understand your position. I think NIL is also a problem for some. PU ladies have recruited well and continue going up.
Lilly has played well for us. She is not one of our current problems. The team concept/team chemistry can only take us so far. We will see how far this year.

Purdue's coach Gealrds, can recruit, but not develop talent or game day coaching very well from the results so far. Her and Moren fused into one person could be a top 10 coach in WBBall IMO, but seperately they both have limiting faults, Gearlds more so than Moren. JMHO
