... there's been, what 25 posts made on here this morning?

Anybody who doubts that a lot of IU fans are apathetic about Crean and the program should think about that.

Personally...

I think it has more to do with what this free board has become....not that everyone is apathetic. To your point though..HMP is a loss and potentially a significant one. Hopefully Holt can adjust quickly to doubling his minutes.

WOW

You keep trying... not the case at all... Such a jokester!

Spot on

I don't post as often anymore because of the pasting one is likely to get if one is anyway positive about the team or Crean.

Re: Personally...

With the 2-4 week guestimate... the severity is really not known.... This is a great time for Holt to develop.... April as well... these things happen.

Re: Personally...

Why wasn't April given minutes vs the weaker teams we played in Non Conference play?

Yes... the freebie has always been the true indicator ...

in judging fan support for the IU basketball team.

Not leading the B1G in attendance for the last 1000 years, or the 4/5 different message boards that cover the Hoosiers but Peegs free Hoop board has always been the gold standard in measuring fan support.

lol ... think about that.

Because he likely isn't D1 material

Do you really think Tom Crean is a moron?

If he had the talent to be anything more than five fouls in live game action, April would have already been on the floor.

It's pretty clear he was brought in to have a big man on the practice floor to go against Hanner and Davis -- and now Holt given the Davis injury. Same is true of Priller.

April may some day develop into a D1 back up player in a couple of years, but we're not likely to see it at IU.

Re: Because he likely isn't D1 material

So your saying we recruited April to be a practice player when we really didn't have a front court anyway? Holt is 6'7 and so is Davis. Hanner is an undersized 5 so we really needed a big that could come in and play, not a practice player as you say.

Obviously because the coach didnt want him in

Maybe he didn't deserve to be put in due to lack of effort in practice. Or maybe he was hurt. Or maybe because he wouldn't add to the other teammates efforts/improvements.

I'm not sure.

I speculate, without going out too much on a limb, that Coach Crean had his reasons.

Re: April Was Brought in to Takeover for P Jurkin

And you can't argue with how he's doing on that

Re: Personally...

Smitty you know damn well April was hurt almost the entire non conference schedule, asking a question you know the answer to doesn't make sense.

Hmmmmm

There were injuries and the fact that two talented players needed development... HMP and Holt needed more minutes to develop... Had CTC put in the others you would be complaining as well... so funny!

It's pretty obvious that Hanner and Holt

Were gonna help more this year and he needed them ready to play. April and Priller weren't going to or be expected to help immediately.

Re: Hmmmmm

Actually...no there is plenty of mintues to play Holt, Hanner and April. Especially in blow outs against Grand Canyon or Gulf Coast

Re: Personally...

My main point is he shouldn't have been recruited to IU nor Priller

Who was brought in to take over for Tijan Jobe . . .

the trend is inexplicable. It's not like any of those guys is a Swen Nater to provide good practice fodder for the first team . . . seems like a waste of a schollie.

Re: Who was brought in to take over for Tijan Job . . .

you forgot Bawa in between tijian and jurkin

Kinda Funny about Anthony Lee though

He was the Big that we HAD to have (by many on this board). He is barely seeing the floor for Ohio State, and doing basically nothing. He was in for all of 4 min against us and collected the huge stat line of 1 assist, no pts, no rebounds.

So...not sure this board is the best judge of Div. 1 talent.

This game isn't going to be much different than OSU

Let's pretend that Hanner gets 2 quick fouls and is sitting on the bench. That is how we will handle the next few games. Someone will have to pick up the 7.4 points and 5 rebounds he has been averaging. I wouldn't call him a great defensive player except for the shots he can block.

It is interesting that PSU just suspended a guard that averages the same ppg as Hanner. The team will deal with it. Be glad it isn't going to be longer.

I don't see the logic.

Are we supposed to be sending Hanner "well-wishes" for his 2-4 week knee cap recovery or fretting over how we will replace him? I feel bad for the kid that he has an injury but I don't know that everyone on the board needs to comment on it. What were you expecting to see?

BTW, I've been labeled as a "hater" I suppose. I'm not sure if I'm a "hater" of Crean or a "hater" of IU or just a "hater" in general, but that gives you my perspective as others see it. So what should a "hater" like myself have posted about this injury? Just wondering what you were expecting to see...

I've been a poster here for many years and ...

... remember pages and pages of post both the day of and day after games. There's still plenty after but not nearly how it was in years past the day before.

Since this is a free board with lots of "serious" and let's say "casual" fans, yes, I do consider it to be a fairly good indicator of fan interest.

I'm merely pointing out what I'm observing...

...but you're 110% happy with the program. That's all I need to know.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

I'm sure they're both fine young men, but Crean was shopping from the bargain bin with both of them because he struck out with more talented recruits. Neither will see much floor time, even with HP out.

Re: I've been a poster here for many years and ...

I don't remember pages and pages on the day of the game and after since the Knight years and early Davis years. I remember Eric Gordon's decision day being pretty crazy after that. But it's not like it used to be years ago.

Right, as I said...

It's not like it was in years past. I was posting here in the RMK and Davis years. I hate to say it but the overall interest is not what it was. It especially stinks living in the Evansville area where many UK fans live.

Re: Right, as I said...

I'm sure it does. You can always go to Jimtown and relieve the pain for a couple of hours!

So you weren't reeeally expecting to see a lot of posts here today. I get it. Yah, it's dead. No more basketball talk or any interesting posts unless you want to get attacked as a "hater". Any expectations above where we are right now and you will be attacked.

Re: Personally...

How do we know? None of us have seen enough to make a true judgement!

Whoa! Stop...hang on! A Swen Nater post??? Sope, there is like

5 people on this board that know who the great Swen is (or was). Unfortunately you and I are 2 of them. Well done!

Maybe alot of fans stay away from this board

that use to come here because of all the bickering back and forth and they might have better things to do besides coming to a message board.
