The ladies knocked off #23 Iowa. Garzon had a big game and was 7 of 8 from the field and 5 of 5 on 3s going into the 4th as IU had a 64-51 lead early in that qtr. Garzon finished with 21 points, and Moore-McNeil and Parrish both had solid games and scored 18 and 15 points, respectively. Iowa made a run in the last 3 minutes or so to pull within 66-62 with 1:52 left in the game. A layup by Striplin put IU up 68-62 at just over one minute to play and a couple of FTs by Moore-McNeil gave IU some breathing room down the stretch. IU fouled a three-point shooter with 48 seconds left as Iowa pulled within 70-65. Two more FTs by Moore-McNeil put IU back up to 72-65 with 48 seconds still left. IU put the game away with a Striplin layup with seven seconds left in the game.

I wish I could ask Coach Moren the free throw question. I know in public she would have to be diplomatic so I would need to be her sister or best friend, etc.
But my question would be “Why was there such a difference in the number of fouls called on IU vs Iowa? Did we do something poorly? Did Iowa do something really well? Was it the refs?”.

Thanks for posting. The game was great. We took a lead, absorbed a run, took a lead, absorbed a run, etc. When we were up two late, I really thought we were in trouble.
Strip had, I thought, the biggest bucket. The shot that let us go up 6 really late in the game was huge. I agree Yardon’s 5-5 from three was big, Syd was big with her threes (after starting 0-4 from three), and Chloe’s normal leadership plus about 20 points.
Great entertainment from an IU fan point of view.

Fouls were basically 23-13. And I thought Iowa's guards were pretty aggressive. That being said, we didn't get flustered. But I was shocked with 24 sec left, down 5, that Iowa didn't foul quickly.

Edit: I was also impressed how quickly Garzon reattached her arm when it was ripped off with no foul called.
