1st Period:

IU opened the game with a 3 from Moore-McNeil as IU took a 5-0 lead. Purdue was giving Holmes the TJD treatment by double and triple teaming her whenever she touched the ball. It was IU 10-5 at the first timeout and both Holmes and Berger had picked up a foul at this point. It was IU up 14-10 at the end of the period with IU's biggest lead being 7 points. Both teams turned the ball over too much with each team having 6 turnovers apiece. Both teams were hit with fouls with IU having four fouls to five for Purdue. Holmes did not put up a shot in the period as they surrounded her every time she touched the ball.

2nd Period:

IU went into a scoring slump which extended from the first period and the Boilers went on a 7-0 run to start the period to take 17-14 lead before a 3 by Moore-McNeil tied the game. Parrish picked up her 2nd foul early in the period. IU retook the lead at 22-19 at the 4:00 mark and it was 22-21 at the 3:22 TV timeout. Holmes was 0-1 from the field at this point with Moore-McNeil and Parrish carrying the Hoosiers scoring at this point. Holmes scored her first and only basket of the half on a breakaway after a Boiler turnover and IU grabbed a six-point lead before settling for a lead of 31-26 at the half.

Half: IU 31 Purdue 26

It was clear that if the Boilers were going to lose this game they weren't going to lose it because of Holmes. Holmes (1-2), Berger (1-5), and Garzon (1-4) were a combined 3 of 11 from the field as IU hit only 34.4 pct from the field with their 3-point shooting at 31.3. The Boilers hit on 43.5 pct from the field but had nine fewer attempts from the field. Turnovers were six for IU (IU did not turn the ball over in the 2nd period) and 10 for Purdue. Parrish and Berger picked up two fouls apiece and were the only players for IU with more than one foul. Purdue had one starter with two fouls in Terry. Moore-McNeil led IU in scoring at the half with 13 points, while Parrish, hampered with two fouls, had 7 points, and Scalia with 5 points.

3rd Period:

Halftime is all about adjustments and IU came out in the 3rd by going on a 7-0 run with Holmes going 3 for 3 from the field plus a FT by Parrish to put the lead up to 12 really quick at 38-26, forcing a Boiler timeout. It was obvious that the Hoosiers were focused on getting Holmes involved early on in the 3rd, and she responded and was 4 of 5 from the field at this point in the game. Holmes said enough is enough and she dropped in a 3-ball to give IU at 41-28 lead at under the 7-minute mark. IU had the lead up to 16 points at 44-28 at a 4:31 TV timeout. It was a 20 point lead at 48-28 and a Purdue timeout near the end of the period. It was 50-28 at the end of the period and IU did to Purdue what they did to OSU and overwhelmed the Boilers in 3rd, 19-2.

4th Period:

The action in the 4th started slowly and the play was a little ragged at the start with the Boilers opening up the period on a 6-2 run. IU then hit back-to-back threes by Scalia and Parrish, both assisted by Berger, as IU pushed the lead up 60-34 with 5:42 left in the game after two FTs by Parrish. It was 60-39 IU at the last TV timeout at 4:05. The Boiler picked up several garbage points at the end of the game which happens a lot in a game that was over in the 3rd period.

It was the largest crowd in the history of Purdue women's basketball with a sizable IU contingent there, but it didn't matter. The Boilers beat two ranked teams on the road in Illinois and OSU, but they couldn't beat the Hoosiers on their homecourt in front of a record crowd. It was balanced scoring for IU with four players in double figures led by Parrish and Holmes with 15 apiece and Scalia with 14. Moore-McNeil ended up with 13 points and she and Parrish carried IU in the scoring early on in the game until the scoring picked up from the rest of the roster.
