It will be LHP Deron Swanson on the mound for IU with Schuyler behind the plate as IU tries to take the rubber game in the series. Swanson has an ERA of 4.26 with a WHIP of 1.42 in 6.1 IP. He has 12 Ks to 3 BBs and his OBA is .261.

Some other arms available for this game that have been coming out of the pen are Haas, Seebold, Buhr, and Gubitosi to mention a few.

UCLA will answer with RHP Landon Stump with an ERA of 4.57 and a WHIP of 1.52 in 21.2 IP. He has 20 Ks to 13 BBs and an OBA of .247.

Batting order for IU is Wiggins, Taylor, Dickerson, Hanley, Stadler (DH), Cerny, Malamazian, Oliver, and Schuyler.

T1st:

Wiggins grounded out to start the game and Taylor popped out in the infield. Dickerson Kd as IU quickly went down in order.

B1st:

Swanson got the leadoff hitter on a groundout. He then gave up a double with one out.

A single down the LF line scored a run and just like that the Bruins are on the board.

A four-pitch walk put runners on at 1st and 2nd and one out, and the double and single may have shaken Swanson.

Swanson got a big pop-out to keep the runners at 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Swanson hit a batter to load the bases with two outs and that chased Swanson as Mercer went to RHP Gavin Seebold with an ERA of of 7.71 and a WHIP of 1.63 in 23.1 IP.

An infield single score another run to make it 2-0 UCLA. A flyout ended the inning and IU was probably fortunate to give up just two runs in that inning.

End of 1st: UCLA 2 IU 0

T2nd:

It's the middle of the order up with Hanley at the plate. Hopefully, our hitters are not going to wait until late in the game to get hot at the plate. Hanley popped out in the infield.

Stadler popped out in the same place as Hanley.

Cerny doubled to CF to put a man in scoring position with two outs.

Malamazian popped out in the infield and all of IU's outs were infield pop outs with the double wasted.

B2nd:

It's the 9 thru 2 hitters up and Seebold got the leadoff hitter on a lineout. Seebold gave up a walk on a full count.

A batter reached on a full count. A hitter then reached on a FC and a throwing error allowed both runners to reach 2nd and 3rd.

A SAC fly gave UCLA and unearned run with two outs. Another full count walk put runners on the corners.

Seebold then walked the bases full with a four-pitch walk with two outs. A groundout end a sloppy inning for IU.

End of 2nd: UCLA 3 IU 0

T3rd:

It was the 8 thru 1 hitters up with Oliver leading off. The way this game has gone early on, we can't wait until late in the game to get things going at the plate.

Good start for IU with Oliver walking on four pitches. My goodness, Schuyler grounded into a DP.

Wiggins doubled to put a runner in scoring position with two outs. Taylor flied out and IU has wasted both doubles in the game.

B3rd:

It's the bottom of the order up for Seebold and he put them down in order.

End of 3rd: UCLA 3 IU 0

It's the 3 thru 5 hitters up with Dickerson leading off and he flied out. Hanley singled to put a man on.

Stadler got a bloop single to put runners on the corners and one out. Cerny reached on a FC to score Hanley with Stadler out at 2nd and two outs. Malamazian Kd to retire the side as IU chipped away at the UCLA lead.

B4th:

Seebold faced the top of the order and he got the leadoff hitter on a flyout.

Back-to-back singles and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out. A DP got Seebold out of big trouble to end the inning.

End of 4th: UCLA 3 IU 1

It's the 8 thru 1 hitters up with Oliver leading off. Oliver grounded out for the first out. Schuyler flied out.

Wiggins walked on a full count to put a runner on with two outs. Taylor lined out to LF to retire the side.

B5th:

Seebold faced the 6 thru 8 hitters and he Kd the leadoff man and then got a lineout in RF on a Taylor dive for two outs. UCLA challenged the call and the out call was upheld.

A single put a runner on with two outs, but a flyout ended the inning.

End of 5th: UCLA 3 IU 1

It's the 3 thru 5 hitters up with Dickerson leading off and he has been quiet today at the plate.

Here we go. UCLA went to the bullpen and brought in RHP August Souza with an ERA of 23.14 and a WHIP of 3.00 in 2.1 IP. Surely, we can hit this guy.

Dickerson flied out for one out.

In a righty vs righty matchup, Souza was in there just to face Dickerson. Now they are bringing in a lefty in Ian May with two lefties up for IU and he has an ERA of 4.37 and a WHIP of 1.46 in 22.2 IP.

Hanley reached on an error to put a runner on and one out. On a Stadler grounder, Hanley was called out a 2nd for interference with Stadler out at first for a DP to retire the side.

B6th:

LHP Anthony Gubitosi relieved Seebold and he faced the top of the order and he walked the leadoff hitter on a 3-1 count. A lineout got the first out with the runner at 1st.

A single put runners on 1st and 2nd and one out. A FC got the runner at 2B, with runners on the corners and two outs. In a close play at 1st, Mercer challenged the call that the runner at 1st was safe and the call was overturned and the DP ended the inning.

End of 6th: UCLA 3 IU 1

T7th:

It's the 6 thru 8 hitters up and IU continued to struggle at the plate as Cerny flied out and Malamazian grounded out, while Oliver grounded out to go down in order.

B7th:

Gubitosi faced the 5 thru 7 hitters and he gave up a leadoff single. A flyout got the first out with the runner still at 1st. A foul out to Cerny got the second out. The runner advanced to 2B on a passed ball and then the runner reached 3rd on a WP.

A walk on a full count put runners on the corners with two outs. A groundout ended the threat and the inning.

End of 7th: UCLA 3 IU 1

It's the 9 thru 2 hitters up with Schuyler leading off. IU is down to their last three outs and Brenczewski came in to pinch hit for Schuyler. Brenczewski was hit by a pitch with Decker coming in to pinch run for him.

With the top of the order up, the Bruins go to the bullpen and bring in RHP Jack O'Connor with an ERA of 2.45 and a WHIP of 0.91 in 11.0 IP.

Wiggins Kd for the first out. Taylor walked on a full count to put runners at 1st and 2nd and one out with Dickerson up and he has been really quiet at the plate in the last two games.

Dickerson hit into a FC with Taylor out at 2nd and Decker taking 3rd.

A single by Hanley scored Decker, but Stadler popped out to retire the side as IU moved to within one run.

B8th:

RHP Pete Haas replaced Gubitosi and he faced the top of the order. Haas got a groundout to get the leadoff hitter.

A triple put a runner at the 3rd and one out. The throw to 3rd was in time but the runner managed to slide around the tag with a challenge by Mercer on the play.

The next batter was intentionally walked and he stole 2nd to take the DP out of play.

A single scored two runs and then a throwing error on Stadler while trying to throw a runner out at 2nd, sent the runner to 3rd and a SAC fly scored that run to make it 6-2. A popout ending a sorry inning.

End of 8th: UCLA 6 IU 2

Cerny hit a leadoff solo homer to open the 9th. Malamazian and Denny both Kd for two outs.

Koskie came in to pinch hit and flied out to end the game as IU's bats were pretty impotent for the 2nd game in a row.

Final: UCLA 6 IU 3

IU's pitching was good enough for most of the game to win this, but for the 2nd game in a row, we couldn't string hits together to score runs. The top of the order was not good enough at the plate and Dickerson was in a two-game mini slump. Our fielding certainly took a step back when it came to errors, but we did have several DPs over the series.

UCLA outhit us and got the clutch hits that we couldn't get over the last two games. They outhit us today 10-6 and IU had two multi-hit players today.

Cerny was 2 for 4 with both hits on extra base hits with a double and homer and 2 RBIs.

Hanley was 2 for 4 with and RBI.

Wiggins had an early double.

We pitched out of some jams and little did we know that we would have tied the game on Cerny's leadoff solo homer in the 9th, if it wasn't for a combination of clutch hits and poor fielding in the 8th that allowed UCLA to pretty much put this game away.

Swanson had a bad start to the game and went 0.2 IP while giving up a double and two earned runs. He had no Ks and 1 BB with a hit batter.

Seebold pitched pretty well over 4.1 IP and he gave up 4 hits and no earned runs. He had 1 K and 3 BBs to go along with a hit batter.

Gubitosi pitched 2.0 IP and gave up 2 hits with no earned runs. He did have a little bit of control problem with no Ks and two BBs to go along with a WP.

Haas has been pitching really well of late, but this game set him back a little bit. He went 1.0 IP with 2 hits with a triple and two earned runs. He had no Ks and 1 BB.

IU had two errors on the day with one leading to an unearned run. However, they did have two DPs. UCLA also had two errors and two DPs.
