NEWS AND NOTES
• Indiana was a tournament champion for the second-straight weekend as it won the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament with a 1-0 win over Kentucky and a 1-0 win over Dartmouth.
• The Kentucky game was called at 77:59 due to weather. The match against Dartmouth was then moved from Sunday morning to Monday afternoon.
• With 12:01 left in the match the teams were called off the field due to lightning in the area. NCAA rules stipulate that a match cannot be re-started more than three hours after the initial match start time. With the IU-UK match kicking off at 5 p.m., by 7:30 it was clear the weather was not going to move out in time to allow the match to re-start by 8 p.m.
• NCAA rules also state that a match is considered official after 70 minutes.
• Freshman Tanner Thompson taking in a UK defender, bringing him down the end line before passing the ball back to Swartz. Swartz stayed composed on the ball and took a low, hard shot to the lower right, bouncing the ball off the right post and into the back of the net.
• Two of Indiana's four goals this season have been scored by freshmen.
• Colin Webb picked up his second straight shutout in goal and was not required to make a save on the night. The Hoosiers finished with a 10-4 shot advantage.
• A goal from Patrick Doody in the third minute and a penalty kick save by Webb kept the Indiana men's soccer team undefeated in 2014 with a 1-0 win over Dartmouth on the final day of the weather-delayed Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament in Notre Dame, Indiana.
• The Hoosiers were on the attack early, going up 1-0 in the third minute. It started by earning a corner kick 40 seconds in that was cleared out. IU was not done on the offensive end when it was awarded a free kick at the top of the 18 after Billy McConnell was fouled. Doody took the free kick and looped it over everyone into the upper 90 for his first goal of the season.
• It also marks Indiana's first set piece score this season and the fastest to start a match.
• Dartmouth led the shot tally 5-2 at the break and was up 3-2 in corner kicks.
• Dartmouth was given a chance to tie the match in the 49th minute when it was an awarded a penalty kick after Matt Greer was taken down in the box. Colin Heffron stepped up to take the penalty but Webb had his shot read the entire time and went down to his right for the save. The rebound went back out to the Big Green but was cleared for a corner kick.
• Indiana finished the game with a 10-9 advantage in the shot tally, out-shooting the Big Green by an 8-4 margin in the second half. Andrew Oliver led the Hoosiers with three attempts, two of which were on goal. Webb finished his day with four saves.
