I’ve watched every game this season. IU is so much better than we have been in the past. Ohio State is quite a bit better than IU. It is what it is. They whipped our OL and dominated the line of scrimmage most of the game. That’s the difference with being very good vs great. Lets crush Purdue and win a bowl game

It’s gonna take a couple good recruiting classes and luring several top portal recruits. In a couple seasons Cig’s IU squad should be able to give the big boys a run for their money.

Texas A&M - out
Ole Miss - Out
Bama - Out

All with 3 losses. They aren’t taking 3 loss teams over 1 loss teams. Period.

And these were bad losses to the back end of the conference:

Auburn was 5-5
Oklahoma was 5-5
Florida was 5-5
teams #10-14 in the SEC conference standings.

not really special teams change the game id play them pricks again
Too much talent = being overmatched and 2024 OSU has to much talent for the Hoosiers. The 2nd half was simply a very strong, refined practice for the Buckeyes. I hate saying it but hated digesting it while watching it unfold even more. Cignetti will this offseason get more horses and they will want to come to Bloomington. Of that I'm certain. The program will be bigger and better next season.

This might be why OSU is quite a bit better as per 247Sports

5-stars -- OSU 14 IU 0
4-stars -- OSU 55 IU 10
3-stars -- OSU 14 IU 57

Outmatched today but may have looked a bit different at home. They weren't prepared for that environment.
Coach Cig said the center could not hear due to the crowd noise, so they went to a silent count. I wondered at the time if OSU was timing their rush based on the hand movement of the Guard after he saw the hand movement of the QB. Coach Cig said that might have been possible but Rourke said their blitzes were nothing they had not seen before.

Yeah, Cig said in post-game that our scout team could not give our Oline anything close to what they saw today. They saw it on film but were blown away by their ability.

We need more depth on the lines and another Top 20 game, earlier in the season, would have prolly prepared us a bit. But, NE had a good dline, UM had a great dline. Both of those games were home games. That tells me the noise may have had a bigger part in this than we think. I don't know, I am just playing armchair today...

Not that Cig wasn’t aware of their talent beforehand, after all he was the recruiting coordinator and a position coach for Saban at Alabama for four years, but he’s now witnessed it first hand and knows what he needs to win against the top teams in the country.

I’m sure he’ll make good use of this knowledge. I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Uhhh…this is a program that has averaged 4 wins a year.
If Cig has us just winning 8+ games a year, it’s already like Jesus “walking on water” time in Bloomington. Build him a gargantuan statue.
I think this year only fuels the potential for higher level recruits coming here. The guy is a household name now and on interviews all over the country each week. I’d say we could get to this again in the next 10 years he’s coaching.

IU wasn’t “good enough” to beat OSU, but that had nothing to do with coaching or heart. That was a mismatch from a purely talent/athleticism perspective. Switch coaches and it would have been 77-0.

It doesn’t change the fact that IU, full of 1-2 star players, gave one of the best, most talented teams in the country all they could handle for one half of football…on the road. Outside of a botched snap at the end of the first half, we were dead even with a team that had superior talent/athleticism at every position.

Shit like a mishandled snap is going to happen, it just happened against a team that can punish the hell out of you for it. You can almost make light of the mishandled snap by saying our punter hasn’t had to punt a whole lot this season.

Give Cig time to put together even a team of mostly 3 star players with a few 4s and watch out. We’ve seen what he can do with what he has now. What he can do with a roster he mostly didn’t recruit/assemble and only a few months of his coaching and his assistants’ coaching.

We’re going to be fine.
