I understand the dislike of the way NIL has gone. But his phrasing, to me, makes it seem as if we did something wrong. I completely agree there should be changes. Tuberville blames Chuck Shummer for blocking his efforts at reform.
My guess is both sides of the isle are crooks. But the rules are the rules.

Dude, can you correct the spelling of the asshole's name in the thread title? This thread should be getting more attention.

This makes me livid. What an outrageous accusation. Fvck Tuberville and the other SEC crybabies.

They literally are throwing the kitchen sink at IU.

If he wants consequences for breaking a contract, then there must be guarantees from the other side that contracts won't be rescinded.

It's unbelievable. The SEC, with several two-loss teams (and some of those teams will ultimately be three-loss teams), is publicly campaigning for inclusion in the first field of 12 CFP. Now they've got a low-IQ United States senator involved who, in an apparent effort to bolster the conference's position, is denigrating IU. Screw this guy and all the whiny SEC idiots.

I have no problem with NIL money being tied to contracts (which would, among things, prevent players from opting out of bowl games), but what Tuberville is doing is something very different. He's made a false and outrageous claim that we've "bought" our success this season, suggesting wrongdoing. Fvck him. I'm furious.

I bet IU got the best value for its dollars. Most of the portal guys we got were not ranked very high out of high school and nobody was going to pay top dollar for them. And certainly our freshmen recruits weren’t 4-5 star kids who could demand top dollar.

It was Cignetti and his coaching staff’s keen eye for talent, then great coaching, that put IU where they are, not 5 star talent and big bucks.

Yeah. It amuses me how uncomfortable everyone else is with our success. What we really bought was a coach. Yes, our talent level has increased, but I've always felt the talent we had in the past should have brought better results.

Allen was 3-9 last year, I've often wondered what Cignetti would've done with that team. That team lost a bunch of close games that better coaching would've pulled out the W.

Kevin Wilson lost a bunch of games that a better coach would've won. Thank goodness Cignetti is our head coach!!!

Nope, just bought ourselves a hell of a coaching staff!

The old regime can’t stand to see new blood rise up in CFB.

I’d love it if Cig was asked about this comment. His response would be short and sweet like “Coaching is about developing and motivating your players. You can’t buy that.”

The thing is he's got a bunch of guys nobody else was seriously interested in. Oh sure, we had to pay top dollar for all those JMU guys. Tuberville's comment is such bullshit.

As someone suggested above, Cignetti is a master at identifying and recruiting talent that others can't see.
