i will tell you IU isn't regarded anywhere close to what it was when i was looking at schools. the perception over the last thirty years for everything save music and kelley has really slipped in my experience. kids here only go for kelley. otherwise iu is viewed along the lines of sec schools with better weather
Zero reason the governor should get to pick the majority of the board.
Now, not only does he appoint 5 of the 9, but he can choose to replace any of the alumni elected for any reason. Why bother having alumni elections?
Is he going to pick IU’s next basketball or football coach, too? (I am hopeful this won’t be for a significant number of years, but, nevertheless. . . . . )
Effectively a hostile takeover by a political party. Wonder what King Braun has in store for the university. Probably guaranteed to pick based on political affiliation. Now, not only does he appoint 5 of the 9, but he can choose to replace any of the alumni elected for any reason. Ya think. Quinn Buckner is the chair lolTo make it appear that the governor doesn’t control the board - when in actuality, he would.
That said, I can’t honestly say that the Board as it’s been has exemplified itself. But this doesn’t seem like the solution to that.
Braun's wife is an IU grad. Still that article does not make it sound good.Effectively a hostile takeover by a political party. Wonder what King Braun has in store for the university. Probably guaranteed to pick based on political affiliation.
k?Braun's wife is an IU grad.
pretty sure purdue was already under the thumb of the governor. I recall Mitch Daniels placing people on Purdue's BOT and then that BOT giving him a job as President when he was done being governor. What have other schools done?
Faculty are employees. They shouldn’t even be advisory. The faculty is also mad that the bill removes "shared governance", the concept that the faculty and administration jointly control IU. The bill reduces faculty participation to advisory.

I’m inquiring about that handle. Is this our stoll?Probably a little strong. Lol
Nope, just the right amount of nuance and precision.Probably a little strong. Lol
Yep, I had a short lived protest, cancelled my subscription and requested my account be deleted.I’m inquiring about that handle. Is this our stoll?

During the process I met Sammy through an email thread. He along with another of the owners are good guys. They’re doing the best job in years on the Premium Basketball Board. They’ve also added a Women’s Board which was long overdue.
I lost 10 months of my previous subscription with my deletion choice but WTH, I paid up for another full year. I added a little to my name in honor of The Greatest Moderator and Coolerite of all time.
So I am happily back doing my job on all the boards.
Not free. I worked 90/100 hour weeks again. I worked for my young partner who now owns the Practice. All 3,600 plus clients have my cell number and think I should be involved. Hopefully after this second tax season of me working only remotely the situation will be fixed this summer.🐐 doing 🐐 💩
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
More importantly. Have we gotten the fck out of that accounting practice?!!! Are we free at last?
STOP SELLING YOURSELF SHORT!!If only I had a-hole skills I could fix this quickly
I literally have no opinion on the matter, but did you actually know the people who were running? This is a complete and utter bullshit piece of legislation.
I say this as an alumnus that has consistently voted for BOT candidates.
In a state where there’s already a brain drain I’m not sure this policy will be positive. If I was a neighboring state, most likely Illinois I’d make a sweetheart deal to encourage Indiana residents to attend their public schools. Who knows, maybe this will be a whole lot of nothing. It’s possible we may not lose many in state kids, but maybe it could affect recruiting the east coast kids that flock to IU.
I know Desantis did this in Florida and I’m honestly not sure what the residual affects are, or do we know yet?
Florida universities are $5,500 - $6,300 and thriving. FSU the dummy party school for UF rejects is now ranked much higher than IU.In a state where there’s already a brain drain I’m not sure this policy will be positive. Looks like it’s not going to take long for you to start trying to goad him into another one…What precipitated your tantrum?

Really? What did we do? You weren't even participating here.
If/when that day comes, the state house will pass legislation to roll back the power of the governor.Interesting, someone was saying the law passed and it only targets IU, PU and others still get to elect Trustees.
Some day we'll have a Democrat in power. Just saying.
In other words, Pam pissed off a lot of people with her heavy handedness and now wants to be protected. Can't say I'm shocked.
