IU basketball

Why, if Dusty May is the Dolson pick, would May want to coach these guys? Tucker has promise, but he’d have to hire an entire new team.

We ain't paying his buyout. That said, we have a good player recruited and with NIL new teams are far easier to build than when Crean had to do it

Classic Woody Ball... 🏀

At they're consistent...

😖
I mean, seriously, down 16 at home to an okay, buy not outstanding, team.

I wrote, in another thread, that the 2013 IU team would beat this team by 50-60. Didn’t mean those guys from 2013 as they are now. Yogi and Hulls, now, would give these guys fits.

Bob Knight's motion offense was the beautiful game.
I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Scott May told an interviewer that he was at the IU-Ohio State BB game, being recruited for football (as a TE, I believe). He said he was in the balcony and had a good view of the plays being run. He said, watching the motion offense (that would have been Knight's first year), that he was enthralled with the offense and decided then to go to IU.

It was beautiful. I am bored with 3 players take a nap while the other 2 pick and roll

I’m not sure why these coaches agree to these massive buyouts. For instance, IMO, Nate Oats is the perfect coach take over at IU. He’s easily a top 5 coach in the country and his offense is fun and explosive. He’s from the Midwest, but coaches at a football school in the South. He’s paid $6-7m per year, which IU would easily exceed. But he has an $18m buyout.🤔 Nobody is paying that buyout to Alabama unless Cuban or JDB want to write a check. 😊

Dusty May’s buyout is much more manageable at $5m on April 2nd. I doubt Beard even has a buyout, and if he does it’s low.

Two way street. School is taking a risk guaranteeing a huge amount of money to a coach, they want to ensure they won't be able to also easily bolt.

I get it, but these $15-20m dollar buyouts are excessive. A guy like Oats and a few others are tying themselves to their school without a way out if a UK, UNC, IU opens up. If I’m Oats you’re paying me more than $6m to hold me to an $18m buyout.

They're all agreeing to it. Not like either side is being held at gunpoint.

You're angry with them because you want Oats. I get it. He'd be fun.

It’s Beard or it’s nobody and we’ll back here again in 4 years.

He is a Top 10 coach in the game today. Top 5 in my book.
I don't know. Maybe.

How about hiring someone youngish (under 50), dynamic, hungry, and above all, smart. Not just BB IQ, real IQ. That seems lacking in our hires since Knight.
