A spanking new contract will be a big talking point when Indiana plays Oregon for the Big Ten Championship. The announcers will drool over Dolson and Indiana for getting out in front of this thing and nailing a championship coach down.

I owe Scott Dolson an apology email. I will email him and tell him he's obviously not only a football man but a GD genius!

A new article from TOS:
WTF is there to negotiate? Just hand Cig a pen, a blank sheet of paper and say “write down whatever the f*** you want, we’re good with it”

If I were Cignetti, I would want to be sure that there is a big enough salary pool for the Assistant Coaches so We might be able to keep Them around longer. Given Cig's age and position in life, He seems like the type of Guy Who might take a little less if it meant guaranteeing higher compensation for his Assistants.

Go Scott.

This whole thing is probably pretty complex. You've got a big raise for Cig, a raise for the staff, and probably revised NIL/facility commitments into the future to assure we are competitive with other schools. Scott has to get this from the school and donors -- no better time than now, but there are a lot of moving pieces so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes some time.

Big moment for IU athletics. The revenue/benefits of being good at football outweigh whatever this is going to cost. Fingers crossed this all goes well.

If I am Scott I structure the deal packed with huge performance based incentives.

We cannot get ourselves into a $30 MM buyout situation.

We learned this the hard way twice
Archie didn’t deserve the buyout he had, whereas Cignetti has the collateral to justify having one. It’s always a gamble, but the odds are too good for IU not to bet the farm on him.

I totally agree. I think he'll want to reward his assistants who have been so loyal to him.

Is GD genius a reference to Gerry Dinardo?
