If the powers that be base keeping CTA on the $20M buyout being too high then they are missing the point altogether. The cost for what IUFB needs is far more than the buyout. It needs major facilities upgrades, NIL funds and more to begin to give the program a chance to become relevant.
If they can’t face that reality and bite that bullet then we have no business even having a football program. We simply proclaim to the fans, alumni and boosters that we don’t care. Yet, the cost of having a grossly underperforming football program damages the entire athletic department, not just football. As a 40+ year fan I somehow hope the light bulb comes on and fast.
