It wasn't pretty...

I’m not suggesting he starts from here on out
I am. Ryan on Assembly Call said start him at Purdue Saturday, and I agree with that. The guy has been buried on the bench for 4 years and remained committed to IU and a good teammate and has helped us a couple times here recently. He's limited defensively but knows where he should be as well as others. Start him as a reward, and maybe to shake things up with a starting senior backcourt. Not like Cupps is tearing it up and he is probably better suited to come off the bench anyway.

I honestly forgot the game was on and then just never turned it on once I remembered. Glad they won. I'll for sure be watching Saturday but they will need to win about 10 straight for me to get excited as a fan again.

Glad they won though. Always good to beat the Buckeyes.

I think Cupps is doing fine considering he's a freshman being asked to do a lot more than expected at this stage.

If Cupps had been on the floor instead of Leal for that last play, everything else being the same, does he hit that 3? I think there's a good chance, it was a wide open shot.

Not to take away anything from Leal, I agree with what you say about him.

Where did I say Cupps isn't doing fine? I'm probably one of the few that agree with you, but he's not excelling by any means. They went at him yesterday on D and Leal is bigger and stronger and better able to hold his ground. And on offense, Cupps is only a facilitator and not even very good at that. He was expected to be a backup so I think putting him back on the bench and allowing him to take it in and for a coach to be conversing with him about what's going on is probably helpful. Let him acclimate to the environment and then come off the bench like he was supposed to this year!

Guess I read more into "Not like Cupps is tearing it up" than you intended. What you say makes sense to me.

Yeah, he's not tearing it up. He is what he is: a freshman struggling to find his place at this level. I think he shows good defensive instincts and can do more offensively than he's shown. I don't think he sees the floor especially well and expected him to be a better passer, but am hoping it's just him being afraid to make a mistake, but I expected him to be a better passer and setup guy than he's shown so far. I think he's doing fine and just needs experience and better perimeter guys around him.
