If you want to know who added the reporter and didn't really bother with operational security, we have the answer.

This would be just LOL top to bottom if it weren't so serious.

Money shot:

According to the Times, Hegseth used his private phone, rather than a government device, to access the Signal chat with his family and friends.
CNN reported later on Sunday that three sources familiar with Hegseth’s private Signal group confirmed to the broadcaster that he had used it to share Yemen attack plans before the strikes were launched.
A person familiar with the contents and those who received the messages, confirmed the second chat to the Associated Press ands said that it included 13 people.

I'm no one to shit on anyone's service but he was a Major in a national guard unit.

I understand civilian control of the military but come on. Majors are typically staff officers. You don't get in to battalion or regimental commands until Lt. Colonel or Colonel.

If you get stuck at Major there is a good reason.

He should be first cabinet member to be shown the door. He’s just UNSAT.

To be fair to Hegseth, I think he left service before he was eligible for Lieutenant Colonel.

So, let's think. Which leak will Trump order to be investigated so that those responsible can be fired?

1. Hegseth's leak of the plans to his family members during the chat, so that Hegseth can be fired?

Or

2. The insiders' leak of the story about Hegseth's leak to the New York Times, so that people we've never heard of can be fired?

I believe you understand what I was getting at though.

The Sec Def should have more experience managing larger units/organizations

I'll just put this here. Trump in 2015, running for president, was funny, it was new kind of a novelty thing. It went alright I think for the most part. I never trusted him because I knew what he was. A Democrat. A populist.

With the media and both parties since 2018ish things have been out of control.

If you knew me in real life I probably have the demeanor of Calvin Coolidge and the ideology of a Barry Goldwater

No question, but let's be honest, when he created a friends and family chat to share operational details, there's no question he was drunk as a skunk, which is exactly the drum Mark kept beating.
A drunk doesn't have to be inebriated to exhibit this kind of grandiose, look at me behavior. Neither does one have to be a drunk-- see Trump. Nevertheless, this kind of undisciplined behavior shouldn't be surprising given his history.

But I just don’t trust Hillary with classified material. Trump and his administration respect that kind of stuff.

Who could’ve seen all this coming when Hegseth was hired? I mean really

This is uneducated (I don’t mean that malignantly) perspective. National Guard units run a regimental style system where one stays as long as they want. Opportunities to be promoted are few and far between.

In order for him to move up - someone else would have to move up or out. Getting “stuck” is part of the deal in the Guard.

On active duty, one rarely is stuck at Major. If you’re stuck anywhere there you get the boot.

Who knows if this guy is still drinking and/or if his brain is fried from years of booze, but he’s got to go,

When 3 of his close personnel were fired this week (all Hegseth guys) you had to figure something was about to hit the fan.
Looks like full blown chaos at the pentagon. Leaks, back stabbings, administrative leaves, firings, ambitious underlings, and more. Sounds like House of Cards. . Yet highly successful operations against the Houthis, including B2’s and bunker busters. I expected this chaos in many areas. Good news it’s only pentagon—so far. I’m not sure anybody Trump would want to appoint would be better.
