It pays to cheat!!!!

Cheaters win. Good luck NCAA Infractions committee. Wait, there is FBI evidence.
Boy does it. My wife said well they all cheat. I said maybe so but Wisconsin sure as hell ain't dropping bags of cash for 5 star players. Self is in a league of his own. Disguisting. The worst part is the slobbering media makes him out to be this great guy

And Wisconsin hasn't won a title since 1941. IU doesn't need to "cheat" to win but they sure as hell need to be in the grey area a whole lot more than they are.

There is no grey area anymore. It’s coming down to NIL, fit and culture. NIL will be a bigger piece than a bunch of us want to admit. I don’t care if Wisconsin, Purdue etc… claim to not support NIL. It will hurt or help them.

Wisconsin drops off blocks of cheese. That is some good cheddar.

I think they'll eventually have to vacate their win, much like UL. Self is under a massive microscope and when he can't do what he does they won't protect him, it just takes a while

I think it’s all grey now.

i don’t see it as a true / false proposition, or something that one is against or for. There is no vast valley and you either are on the NIL mountain or or the non-NIL mountain.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable for an assistant coach to say “NIL is the worst thing that has ever happened to college basketball and it will lead to the ruin of college sports” (on one hand), and on the other hand helping his program buy the best players the program can possibly get.

he can be 100% correct in what he says.
That doesn’t mean that he isn’t operating in the grey, and playing the NIL game.

In other words, saying that NIL will lead to the ruin of college sports and also playing the game because it’s all a grey area and impossible for a big time athletic program to avoid playing the game are not contradictory.

Just let them go straight pro, NIL is BS and for those that wouldn't be taken straight out of HS. It's like having to do taxes when you're 19, so you can be more exploited, is it not? It's bad and it's so others can make more money from the whole thing. It's for the TJD's of the world, be honest. They just need to get rid of that AND drop the one and done rule/age thing

The president of the NCAA thinks they're the Kansas City Jayhawks. I wouldn't count on it....

Lol. If Kansas has to vacate wins, it won’t be this one. None of the players wrapped up in the Adidas case are even on this team.

You really have no idea what you’re talking about re: Kansas and infractions. I know you dislike them, but maybe just keep your mouth shut.

That is correct but it does not change the fact Self is an arrogant slimeball. Self and Kansas are basically telling the NCAA we dare you to do anything to us cheaters

While that is true IU was once a cash cow and still sort of is we just do not win big time. I am guessing IU would be one of the untouchable programs like Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas if they wanted to be but they choose not to go down that path. But those are the three programs I believe the NCAA will never ever touch.

You can probably add Kentucky to that list of three.

A Massive Microscope, you say? Is it the same microscope he's been under for the last three years, or a different one?

The NCAA doesn't have to worry about touching IU. We already touched ourselves.

See what I did there?

NCAA won't vacate KU win. Too much $$ in the March Madness to sully this tournament. KU and the other blue bloods will go on despite the strongest evidence of cheating.

We made it much easier for the NCAA by hiring a coach already under investigation at the school he left. People can complain about “just phone calls” and self reporting, but they were going to have him under a microscope and he would never have withstood the scrutiny. He wasn’t smart enough to get away with even minor infractions.

Maybe true but you would think he would still be under a microscope at Houston and so far they got nothing on him. He is going to have a top 5 ranked team last year and for the most part people do not change so I would be shocked if he is not cheating to some extent.

Kansas played one freshman 3 minutes last night.

Let that sink in for a moment.

I know the point being they probably would not touch us. Kansas learned a lesson watching us destroy ourselves voluntarily and that is to fight and never admit guilt.
Well, the first way to avoid that situation would have been not to hire someone already on probation.

We can thank the IU Administration for that one.

They got their show cause and forced him out of college basketball for five years. He will probably never be at another high profile program again.

While true
And yet he almost made the final four.
Houston is ranked in the early top 5 for next year. Sure he had to take five years off but I would say he is back in a big way. He does not even need to be at a big school he has a five star recruit coming in next year at Houston.

I’m well aware of his record at Houston. He’s an outstanding coach that would have done very well here under different circumstances. He was President of the NABC when he was at Oklahoma and broke the very rules he helped institute and made enemies at the NCAA. They got their pound of flesh and much has changed since then. I don’t think they care what he does at Houston now. They have bigger problems to deal with.

Do you think the NCAA believes they have any problems? I don't. Just made a fortune on the b-ball tournaments. Nothing to fix. May need a bigger rug to sweep fake classes and money bags under. So what. (Both final teams suspect and nobody who matters cares.) Go Hoosiers! Still want to win it again soon.

We were warned not to hire him and we did anyway. What a disaster.
