It all began with when and how Knight was fired. nt

The RMK Curse is alive and well.... just talk to a Cubs fan...

IU better figure out how to cleanse ("exorcise" is kinda creepy) the program... I still say hire RMK as the athletic director for a one year contract... or at least make the offer....

Look how long the Babe Ruth curse lasted for the Red Sox!

He could have coached the x's and o's the same. He could have maintained discipline. He could have demanded excellence the same. He could have taught smart basketball the same. He could have demanded the grades were kept up. He could have continued to recruit cleanly.

If he just could have toned down the extravagance and ego 10% he would have never been fired and the product on the floor wouldn't have suffered. He wouldn't budge. Not even when he was on triple secret probation.

We are all imperfect humans. RMK was his own man. And the greatest coach in college basketball history.

Not firing Crean after his year 3 debacle and hiring Stevens will always haunt us. That’s the worst thing to ever happen to IU.
Is there any credible evidence that Coach Stevens ever wanted to work at Indiana? I am under the impression that he is a very Butler guy.

Credible evidence? Do you want a signed affidavit or his DNA on an IU contract?

He was 45 min away at a mid major making peanuts. He wasn’t a huge name then. Of course he would’ve taken the IU job for 5x what he was making at Butler.

We also "adapt or die". He was his own man for sure, but it could have ended better for the university and FOR HIM. Even though as a Boilermaker he was "the enemy" I can't stand to see the situation where it is today. Unlike a bunch of people here I don't blame the administration, other than the fact they let it go too far early and made it hard for him to adapt.

There is none. Members of the Negative Nancy Whine and Troll Club generally don’t believe in evidence and fabricate their “facts.”

So, no?

Firing Knight wasn't the mistake. Hiring Davis was.
No, it was the firing of Knight that upset the current players who then threatened to almost all transfer if they didn't hire someone from within the program to at least keep the Bob Knight continuity of influence intact. The players respected Knight that much that they wanted, at least, an assistant coach of Bob Knight. The administration took the easy way out by not doing a national search, regardless of what the players threatened to do. It was all a knee-jerk reaction to a Hoosier Nation suddenly stunned.

Crean should never have gotten a fourth year but getting zeller saved him and got him 6 more years.
