I seriously doubt it. And how do we only have 5 teams moderately ranked? Rankings are flat ****ing garbage IMO.

just interested in others thoughts. (Note: This isn’t based on a bunch of data analysis, so if you want to trash me with data, please do)

The data backs it up. We had 12 teams in the top 40 last time I checked, which is nuts.

12 teams in the top 39 now. IU would be in the 4-6 range in the other P5 conferences, but is rated 12th in the B10.

I almost dont want to talk about this because now Feepaw will run around saying we haven't improved because we are only 12th in the BIG...

Probably not.

coming into this season I thought the conference was going to be weak, for two reasons.
1. People were hyping Rutgers and Penn State. I thought how good can the Big Ten be if teams that are typically doormats are suddenly competitive?
2. I expected the teams at the top to be down. I expected this to be a down year for MSU. A major down year for Michigan. Etc.

I think it has played out that way, but there was something that I didn’t foresee. College basketball is WAY down. The talent level is pretty pathetic.

Getting back to the B10, yes, we are a good league, extremely deep. It’s crazy that 12 teams are legitimate top 40 teams, and could make the tourney.

also, this is the weakest I can remember the B10 being at the top. I can’t remember the year, but I recall one year where going into selection Sunday they were talking about three teams getting 1 seeds from our conference. MSU may be the best team in the conference, and they may eventually earn the top seed. But, they may be ranked somewhere below 15, and that seed may be 4.

Btw, I expect IU to soon be in the top 20. Things get tough in our schedule in mid February, but we have a legitimate shot at going 4-1 or even 5-0 in our next stretch of games. We haven’t even scratched the surface of how we can be as a team. Our front court is as good as anyone’s, if Rob can be himself, and our guard play be just pretty good, this team should find itself competing for top 3 in the conference.

Continuing with my thought on 4-1, or 5-0

Maryland easy win
At PSU toss up
At OSU win against the reeling buck nuts
Iowa win (our D will stifle a good offensive team, they never play D, I like the matchup)
PUke - we are not going to lose to the Boilers at home

things get tough after this easier stretch. We will then have four of the next five on the road.

I don't think I'd call any upcoming games an "easy win," including Maryland at home. IU can win every game remaining on their schedule, let's hope they win most of them . . .

I like the "easy win" mentality but I can't get to that point....yet!

Consistency is still the key for this team and they have not showed that aspect yet.

And this is still an offensively challenged team. They HAVE to hang their hat on D.

maybe “easy” win wasn’t the right way to phrase it. I don’t think it’s an easy game. I am predicting that we’ll coast and win by 15+ points. So, I’m not saying it’s easy, but rather predicting a double digit win, that may be a blowout.

Forgot about that moron. He’s been ignored for so long

I agree that we can win every game on our schedule. However, this league is so crazy we could lose every game too. Every team has shown that you never know which team will show up.

We are the most balanced conference! Mostly because the NCAA as a whole is pretty mediocre

As a total conference it is very good but I dont think any team in the conference this year is a threat to win it all.
You are correct, sir. I could see a team like IU doing what Purdue did last year. Purdue wins it all had they not fouled Virginia up 3 with little time remaining. There is a time for fouling in the spot but that was not one of them.

And you suck , does that help explain it to you ?

This is a great point our game was a higher level game than that so called Kentucky Texas Tech game last night.....plus didn’t Ohio state kill Kentucky!
