You beat me to the post. Enough of that talk he has to prove himself. Dude took FAU to FF. Now finished second in first season in B1G and playing in final in the BTT. IU has accomplished that once in what, 30 years since the tournament started?Finished in top 3 regular season and now at least top 2 in tournament during year one. He's a really good coach.
He isn’t.Why would May leave a great gig at Michigan?
He's alot better than Crean.No. He’s Crean 2.0. He took a small school to the final four. He rebuilt Michigan in 1 year. He finished 3rd in the BIG. He’s going to the BTT championship game.
No way would we want anything to do with that.
Nope. No better than Crean. And that's not bad. Just not good enough. He's alot better than Crean.
He was never out of favor. Good coach, seems like a good guy.
You'll always be part of the IU family, Dusty
There was a lot of people calling him "Crean 2.0" and "flavor of the month" when he lost a few games down the stretch. Maybe it was sour grapes when he signed an extension at Meatchicken, IDK... I just think he's a really good coach and obviously has/had love for Indiana. He was never out of favor. Good coach, seems like a good guy.
You'll always be part of the IU family, Dusty.
Not saying he would... it was more a comment directed to the posters basically saying he was mediocre. Why would May leave a great gig at Michigan?
Anyone who watched UM the last 2 games can see he is better than Crean. Crean gave Yogi or Dipo the ball and called "clearout!"Nope. No better than Crean. And that's not bad. Just not good enough.
12-3 is not luck. His team knew exactly what to do with the ball when they gave up the lead with 4 seconds to go. A freaking coast to coast layup. That is not luck either.Gave up a 15 point lead and won basically by luck. And that’s a pattern with him though to his credit he does manage to win most of them.
They knew what to do and that’s to the coach’s credit but any game that comes down to one shot like that has an element of luck.12-3 is not luck. His team knew exactly what to do with the ball when they gave up the lead with 4 seconds to go. A freaking coast to coast layup. That is not luck either.
Of course, ANY game has an element of luck unless you just have way more talent than the opponent. They knew what to do and that’s to the coach’s credit but any game that comes down to one shot like that has an element of luck.
Why do they consistently lose big leads though.
Agreed, he’s got a good record winning close games.Of course, ANY game has an element of luck unless you just have way more talent than the opponent.
Maybe they're not overly talented and the coach has them playing over their heads. Maybe it's just the ebb and flow of games in a league with a lot of parity. Maybe it was growing pains for the players with the first year being with the coach. Maybe they don't loses as many "big leads" as what perception is. One thing I do know... they finished Top 2 in regular season, and now are in the top 2 for tournament. That's not because they got lucky 12 out of 15 times.
Two weeks ago?Are we just forgetting he blew out Purdue yesterday? When is the last time IU did that?
Yeah, right after I posted I realized I had missed your point, but figured my comment still worked, lol.Not saying he would... it was more a comment directed to the posters basically saying he was mediocre.
That wasn’t a blowout. IU was down double digits at halftime in that game. Two weeks ago?
Outscored them 48-21 in the second half. In other words, blew their asses out. That wasn’t a blowout. IU was down double digits at halftime in that game.
