Not saying that bombing those nuclear sites was a bad idea... Just hoping Trump and the rest of the leadership are able to mange through this without a prolonged war.
The possibility that actual dangerous bad actors (Russia, China, etc...) are more than a little involved in all this, is more than a little scary, to me.
I think the world is about to find out just how tough Trump really is...or isn't. Either way, I hope it doesn't ruin the lives of anyone close to me. Trump has normalized self centeredness, so I guess there it is... I don't really care, as long as it doesn't F with normal Americans like myself.

None of us have any doubt, that you will do the right thing and pay your fare share. I mean, being normal and all.
These ar just symbolic attacks to save face. The WH was informed of them beforehand. Hopefully this is the end of it. Trump's talk of regime change clearly got them spooked.
Always have, always will. And have family members that may have to pay more than their fair share. Which is unnerving when you question the knowledge, mindset, and abilities of the guy and people making the decisions.
Hope this is the end of it too. Trump has no control over that though on "their" side, so we'll see I guess.
I don't like the idea of the US getting into even a proxy war that involves China and/or Russia. I fear that president TACO and his administration would get played beyond belief if that played out.
That said, I share your concern about this impacting American lives. All major US cities were on high alert this weekend. Forgive me, but I don't have a lot of faith in Kristi Noem and Thomas freakin' Fugate to prevent a terror attack.

Impeached former DHS Secretary Mayorkas produced no results.

Over 1,500 Iranian nationals who illegally entered the U.S. at the southern border were arrested during the Biden administration, and nearly 50% of them were released back into the country, according to a senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) source.
More specifically, Border Patrol agents arrested 1,504 Iranian nationals from fiscal year 2021 through fiscal year 2024. Of the 1,504 individuals who were arrested, 729 were released into the U.S.

Still, there were over 2 million known gotaways at the border during the Biden administration, and because they were never caught, there is no way of knowing where the individuals were from.
All Iranians are considered "special interest aliens" because of national security concerns. Therefore, they are supposed to receive enhanced vetting from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
In May, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported zero releases of illegal immigrants into the United States, marking a significant decrease from the 62,000 released in the same month last year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (.gov). This coincided with a 93% drop in illegal crossings along the southwest border compared to May 2024, according to Straight Arrow News.
Not unless CBP is lying.
They’re going to struggle to match Obama or Biden admin. deportation numbers, for obvious reasons.
Less illegal crossings means less easy deportations. Meaning those you deport will have to be wrangled up from the interior of the country rather than just stopped and detained at the border before being sent back.
By that same thought process, not sure how much credit you can give Noem if the lack of releases is directly tied to the lack of crossings.
While I think the true architects of Trump immigration policy are Miller and Homan, she gets credit for the results of the department she oversees.
I honestly don't think policy has much to do with it. I think we have far fewer crossings simply because of Trump's persona.

In terms of foiling a terrorist attack. The FBI serves just as large if not a greater role than DHS. Lash and team seem to be doing a very competent job thus far.
I'm not defending previous immigration policy here. It's all baked into the equation of potential threats and risks here. I don't have a lot of faith in way-over-budget Kristi Noem and beyond green Thomas Fugate to rise to the challenge. No one would agree that they're among the best people qualified for the jobs they have.
Crossings began dropping before Trump implemented any new policies. The very act of his election dissuaded people from coming. Agreed?

Agreed, but incomplete. The coyotes and others making money off the immigration traffic knew policy changes were coming.
That is a failing of Democratic administrations that migrants feel more confident in their chances of being released into the interior if they make an illegal crossing or a BS asylum claim.
I know it's been reported that Iran gave US advance notice of launching their missiles at our base in Qatar. It was good that we had time to evacuate all personnel and to take countermeasures. I'm not disputing that.
It's just seems weird to thank someone for giving you a heads up that they're going to try to blow up some of your property.
ICE is trying to conduct massive deportation operations on a scale that hasn’t been seen in decades. So they demand a bigger budget.
Noem and the other guy aside there are 10’s of thousands at DHS and FBI who are trying to ward off terrorist threats and by all evidence they are operating more effectively than the last administration. FBI has already nabbed three people on the ten most wanted list correct? I believe that figure was four for the entire duration of the last administration. Likely not a huge crossover between them and 1/6’ers.
Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good. Noem and the other guy aren’t perfect, they’re a massive improvement.
