International wing Harun Zrno announcing college decision on Friday

Based on limited viewing
I’d take rice back, scrap the rest. Love this foreign guy tho. Check will still cash with the next coach.

I'm interested in your take on him........Watched a 6 minute tape and saw lots of 3 pointers. Didn't see much in the way of handling the ball. All the 3s I saw were catch and shoot.......no step backs off the dribble. Didn't see much quickness or jumping ability. Really did a good job of moving without the ball, including cuts toward the basket. More polished and a better shooter than Sisley, but neither looks very athletic. Sisley looks more like a scrapper to me. Both look like old-school Knight recruits....

Sisley is quite a lot more athletic than many would think...for what its worth.

Is this signing evidence Woody believes he’ll be here next year?
At some level, it obviously has to be. If Woodson knew he wasn't going to be here, can't fathom he's the type that would be a "company man" and keep recruiting as if he were.

If I'm reading in to things...this tells me Woodson still is operating as if he's coming back.

These foreign guys almost always are light years ahead development wise, and have been coached much better on the basics and fundamentals. I am more banking on the sterotype that he will be advanced in most areas. Like you mentioned, looks to know how to move without the ball and where he should go to maximize his ability. Hope he sticks around when woody gets canned, but I am sure he came for the check not Woodson.

He’s definitely that delusional and thinks he can stay on as coach until he says it’s time to leave. If IU keeps him on I can’t see many showing up in the stands next year.

It’s like judging Larry Bird based on his athleticism. His fundamentals were off the charts and it more than made up for his physical weaknesses.

If I'm Dolson, Woodson is here until he isn't. After his last game, Miller was talking to Fisch about what we needed to work on. He may have had suspicions, but he didn't know he was being let go until he was let go.

probably calling McNeely to see if he can have his room next year. Not convinced he's coming due to uncertain future of CMW.
Based on some people in the know with the Sisley family, I would be shocked if he plays anywhere other than IU. The family loves the school. Also, Trent was one of the first to "Welcome" Zrno aboard online after his commitment. Dudes don't do that if they're pissed about the perceived competition.

Same height and weight don't mean anything if one is better laterally, has better quickness and ball skills.

It doesn't really matter though. They can play at the same time. They both have the capability to play multiple positions.

You're right. And you could even have both of them on the wing. Like @Cavanagh said - really only Rice is a must have back. So those two on the wings, Rice at the point. Tucker all over. Playing what I assume will be a better brand of basketball is a good start.

Reneau, Mgbako can go find their level somewhere else. Hell, I'd be happy to take them at DePaul where talent is an issue and winning can only go up. But they don't affect real, material winning in my opinion.

Ballo, Galloway, Goode, Leal and everyone else are out of eligibility or not expected back anyway.

I don't want to give up on Carlyle, though. I like his makeup, and I think he's worth working on.

Rice
Zrno
Sisley
Tucker
[new big]

Carlyle

6, 7 or 8 transfers? More? Less? I have no idea. Whatever it takes, I guess.

That's how it has to be...in reality. Unless Woodson himself has told Dolson he's done at years end... but nothing points to that.

your thinking of tom chambers, bird was never pretty damn athletic
Ha ha. I guess you'd have to define athletic. But for someone his size, he was pretty damn fast, dunked pretty regularly, never had any issues guarding people... Its all relative, I guess.

By my definition, prime Bird, before back injuries, was more than a little bit more "athletic" than Chambers. Despite Chambers being able to dunk from the 3 point line in my NBA Live video game.

Watched 90 percent of Birds games going back to his sr. year at Indiana state. he never had more than 5 dunks a year. most unbelievable college player I ever saw. his performances before the final game vs Mich st were incredible. the DePaul and Arkansas games during that run were something like 40 points 15 boards and 8 assist a game. . and chambers could damn near dunk from the 3-point line in real life

Let's let the new coach decide who wants back and who he doesn't.

Fair enough... that's a much more narrow view of "athleticism" than I was referring to. But I do think is often what most initially think. And Bird did make a career out of cooking those that could jump higher and fun faster than he could. But relative to the real world, Bird was a badass athlete, even in those areas.

Yes.....that's scary....I doubt Dull Son has said a word to him about his status.

Could be....he could be keeping his powder dry. Hope so.

Cool. If we can get Rice & Tucker to hang around for the new coach we can use spread the NFL $ out a little thinner for the remainder of next year's team......

Woodson isn't going anywhere! The picture on the front page is the future.
