I can't remember ever watching a player as dirty as Davidson in both contests. His behavior does not belong in sport. There is a time and place to pull a John Chaney, and I strongly felt the first half was that moment.

I’m not arguing for Davison but you are ridiculous if you think that “foul” was dirty. It was an accident. I have seen him do intentional fouls and that was not one of them.

OK then, who shot the free throws for the “intentional“ foul?

I know what they called, but they also called the make-up charge on the other end on Stewart. Maybe the refs felt like they needed to call something but there isn’t a single part of me that believes that was intentional. He has had his fair share of bad plays which he has deserved the intentional or flagrant fouls but that was not one.

If it was not Davison, it wouldn’t have been called. If it was TJD doing the same thing, you all would be upset about that being called an intentional foul.

Having watched two of his contests, he does not get the benefit of the doubt. Even if that was an accident, he is still a dirty player. Another ridiculous play that comes to mind was when he literally grabbed the offensive player, dragged the offensive player into himself, then flopped. He plays without any ethics. He's the guy on the tennis court who would give you the worst line calls.

He’s got a track record. He lost the luxury of the benefit of the doubt a long time ago. He’s always in the middle of the shit. Every time.

Rewatch it. His hand was in a fist. It was, in fact an intentional dirty play, execusted exactly when they needed it to play their mind games.
Davison is a dirty SOB

Davison is like a soccer player who flops to get a yellow card or red card on the opposing Soccer teams best player. Davison's off balance flops are pure theatrics. It should be a technical foul. I am waiting on him to bait the wrong player in the NCAA Tournament from say a physical Big East team and he gets a payback shot away from the ball.

You do realize that if he is what you say he is, then he would welcome the shot from another player. Yes, he does flop and try to bait calls. He also hooks and holds to get calls. However, I don’t think he is ever trying to hurt another player. But he is a hardcore competitor that will do whatever he can to help the team win. He has no ego and doesn’t care about being a star. I wish UW had more players like him.

Indiana would be great if they had a guard like him to go along with TJD. And Davison is the perfect compliment to Davis.

F1 fouls do not require intent just contact that is dangerous and not truly incidental. That play was borderline but given his track record of BS...I understand the call. He is a heck of a player that plays on the edge and gets away with a lot of crap.

The BIG has a problem right now failing to manage games late and particularly with the top players not being held accountable for travels, arm bars, taunting, flopping and hook and holds. Davison, Davis, Ivy among others. Davison screamed **** YOU at the IU bench after hitting a three per Rabby. Nothing was done.

I don’t disagree that refs let it get out of hand. X got in davison’s face and said something after X made a layup and it was right in front of the ref and they did nothing so it went both ways. They let that game get very chippy and then tried to call everything in the final 2 mins which is a horrible way of doing things.

I don’t always like how Davison does it but he gets the other team on edge and sometimes (like what happened with Stewart) it works by getting his opponent to make a bonehead play. I don’t know that it had something to do with it but Badgers took control after IU got the call against Davison.

I have no problem with what he did or how he plays. The guy made himself more valuable to his team, which is really what you want of every player. I've always felt, and tell the kids I coach (12U rec league, not a high level) to "read" how the refs are calling it and adjust accordingly. And, I'm always trying to show them ways to play "more physically" but not in a way that draws the refs attention or gets fouls. Depending on how they are calling it, then you could say I'm teaching them how to cheat or foul without getting calls. When I played with refs, I always felt like I wanted to end the game with 4 fouls (assuming we weren't in double bonus), or I felt like I may have let some plays/opportunities slip.

I agree and do the same thing when coaching younger kids. I was always told by a coach that you have 5 fouls so you better make them worth it when you use them. Not trying to hurt someone but a light touch foul is not worthwhile.

You know what, after further review, I not only think the swinging fist was intentional, but should have led to an immediate ejection and a suspension for the rest of the season.

The swinging fist is apparently one of his standard "moves".

I'm all for playing up to the grey line, but he is way beyond that. He is dirty player. His hook and pull could seriously injure someone on its own right.

This is ultimately on the refs to keep him on the right side of that grey line. He is the Grayson Allen of the BIG and ACC refs allowed Grayson to become what he was.

We won’t agree on this. Even Jay Bilas said it was not a flagrant foul during the broadcast so a non-biased observer would disagree with you. I said he has went over the line in the past but this was not one of them. I understand @Courtsensetwo argument saying he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt but you are just sour at this point. An ejection would have been total BS.

I haven't gone back and rewatched, but at the time, I saw nothing flagrant about it, and they replayed it several times. He's got a bad reputation as a dirty player, and if players and fans know it, you know refs know it. I just didn't think it looked like he hit Stewart that hard. If anyone acted on that play, or overreacted, from what I saw it was Stewart. Easy for me to say when I'm not the one getting clocked in the kisser, but that's not what I saw, at least not in an intentional or out of the ordinary way.

They had to call it a flagrant because nothing was called originally and they went to monitor. Shot in the head, accidental or not, is a flagrant when that happens. If they'd called it in real time, it would have been a common foul. Just the way the rules work in that situation. They touched on it briefly during the broadcast.
