Despite falling to the No. 6 rating among Big Ten schools in the latest Ken Pomeroy ratings, Indiana is still projected to go 11-7 in the league this year thanks in large part to a pretty favorable schedule. Of the five teams ranked above the Hoosiers, only twice-beaten Iowa will play IU twice.
The December 19th game against Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic is looming much larger for Indiana than expected because of the lack of quality wins on the non-conference slate. Without last year's Crossroads Classic win over Butler the 2014-15, the Hoosiers may not have made the Field of 64.
Missed this Dana O'Neil ESPN piece for the Newsstand today.
Tomorrow's game against Morehead State is clearly the toughest left on the non-conference slate outside of Notre Dame. Coached by former UK guard Sean Woods, the Eagles are off to a 5-1 start and coming off double digit wins over St. Louis, Southern Miss and Marshall. Lone defeat was a one-pointer at Illinois State.
DeJuan Marrero out of Gary, Indiana is a former Hoosier target who starts now at Morehead State after transferring from DePaul. He's averaging 7.5 points and team high 6.7 rebounds.
Top scorer is 6-foot-3 guard Corban Collins (12.5 ppg). He's hitting just 35.5 percent from the floor but has an excellent assist to turnover ratio. He originally committed to LSU.
Woods' team is a bit of a rag tag group that includes 11 transfers if you include jucos in that total. They turn it over about as much as Indiana but are fifth best in the nation in forcing turnovers. Don't have much size but are surprisingly good on the boards.
Only 208th nationally with a 47.7 percent effective FG rate.
This will be the third Ohio Valley Conference team that Indiana has played already this season.

Rawle Alkins spoke in person to our Jeff Rabjohns this week at one of the ACC Challenge games and indicated that he still has Indiana on the list of schools he's thinking about for an official visit. He confirmed recent trips to see him there in Durham area by IU assistant Chuck Martin.
Alkins made both the NC State and UNC games on Tuesday night.
Paul Scruggs tells us the two schools doing the best job of making him a priority are Indiana and Michigan State.
Curtis Jones is playing this weekend in the Marshall County Hoopfest. Some of those games are on ESPN and live streamed. More info at this official site here:
Trevon Duval tells us he is still hearing often from the Hoosier staff. "Indiana's been talking to me for a while," he said. Duval is the No. 2 overall player in the Class of 2017.
Indiana assistant Tim Buckley was spotted at top ranked New Albany's opener at Bloomington South this past weekend. New Albany features 6-foot-4 sophomore Romeo Langford. He holds offers from Indiana, Purdue, UCLA and Vanderbilt, among others.
Rivals national analyst Eric Bossi has a quick update on Alpha Diallo, a summer teammate and friend of Hoosier signee De'Ron Davis. It mentions IU interest.

Indiana is less than a week removed from their 54-36 Old Oaken Bucket win over Purdue that gives them six victories and makes them bowl eligible for the first time since the 2007 season. The question now is what bowl game will IU play in. Mike Pegram did this story after the Purdue game that discusses the most likely landing spots for the Hoosiers when it comes to a bowl game.

The biggest question after the win over Purdue, other than what bowl game IU will play in, is will head coach Kevin Wilson get an extension. You can read this story that Jeff Rabjohns put out after the Purdue game talking about this. Peegs.com has heard that an extension between IU and Wilson is very close to being done.

With the regular season done in college football the Big Ten released their all-conference teams and several Hoosiers were recognized for their play this season. Kicker Griffin Oakes was named the Bakken-Andersen Kicker of the Year. IU also had five defensive and special teams standouts receive honorable mention recognition: junior defensive tackle Darius Latham (coaches), senior defensive end Nick Mangieri (coaches and media), redshirt sophomore linebacker Marcus Oliver (media), redshirt junior return specialist Mitchell Paige and fifth-year senior bandit Zack Shaw (coaches). You can read the release from IUHoosiers.com here.
On offense running back Jordan Howard and offensive lineman Dan Feeney were named First Team All-Conference, while offensive lineman Jason Spriggs was named to the second team and quarterback Nate Sudfeld was on the third team. Wide receiver Simmie Cobbs and tight end Michael Cooper received honorable mention recognition. Here is the release from IUHoosiers.com.

With a few weeks before the dead period starts in recruiting the IU staff has been busy visiting players in several different parts of the country. Peegs.com put up a post on our Premium FB Board on where the IU staff has been this week and who they were there to see. You can check out that post here.
One player that the staff saw this week is Texas offensive lineman Mackenzie Nworah. The three-star recruit is currently committed to Missouri but with the coaching change there he has decided to look around. You can read the story we did on him here.
-----
One player that is already committed to the Hoosiers is junior college safety Jayme Thompson. The three-star recruit will be graduating from Iowa Western in December and he will be enrolling at IU in January. Here is the story we did on Thompson earlier this week.
-----
This weekend is also the first of several where the Indiana staff will host official visitors. The following players are expected to be on campus this weekend:
Coy Cronk: Cronk is a three-star in-state lineman from Central Catholic H.S. in Lafayette. The Hoosiers appear to be the leader here over Illinois and Vanderbilt. Cronk projects as an offensive tackle at Indiana.
Brandon Drayton: Drayton committed to Nebraska last weekend while on an unofficial visit there, but today he announced on Twitter that he is no longer committed to the Huskers. The three-star recruit is from Largo H.S. in Largo, Florida, which is the same school as current IU players Jonathan Crawford and Donavan Hale. Drayton is a safety that could also play some corner in college.
Tyus Flakes: Flakes has been committed to the Hoosiers since the middle of June. He missed his senior season at Auburn H.S. in Auburn, Alabama because of a knee injury he suffered back in the spring, but he is expected to be 100 percent by the start of the 2016 season.
Chris Henderson: Henderson is also committed to IU and he has been a Hoosier commit since early August. This past fall at Lovejoy H.S. he recorded around 50 tackles, around 20 tackles for loss, and around 10 sacks. He projects as a defensive end in Indiana’s 3-4 scheme. Here is a story we did on Henderson previewing his visit to IU.
Ian Thomas: Thomas is a junior college tight end from Nassau C.C. in New York. He will be a May graduate and he will have three years to play two. This past season at Nassau he hauled in 23 receptions for 433 yards and three touchdowns.
Robert Tucker: Tucker is a three-star tight end prospect from B.E.S.T. Academy in Atlanta. He hauled in 16 receptions for 336 yards and four touchdowns this fall. The QB for B.E.S.T. Academy got hurt during the season so that forced the Eagles to be more of a running team which hurt Tucker’s numbers as a receiver.
Peegs.com has heard that three-star Tennessee linebacker Tim Hart could also be in town this weekend but we have not been able to confirm that with Hart. The standout from Memphis University School is currently committed to Tennessee.
-----
Since the last ITLR a few weeks ago the Hoosiers picked up another 2017 commit in Florida offensive lineman Tyler Knight. The talented prospect plays right tackle for Northside Christian in St. Petersburg, but at IU he will most likely be an interior lineman and play guard or center. You can read the story we did on him here.
-----
Another 2017 prospect that Indiana is in great shape with is Georgia wideout Jeremiah Holloman. The standout from Newton H.S. in Covington, Georgia told Peegs.com recently that the Hoosiers are one of his favorite schools. You can read the story we did on Holloman here.

The NFL just finished up week 12 of the 2015 season and there are a handful of Hoosiers who are getting playing time for their respective teams. Each week Peegs.com puts out a weekly feature on how former Hoosiers playing in the NFL are doing. Here is the update on how four former IU players did in week 10 of the NFL season.
