First, I am not down on this team. Given the personnel, this team has performed and looked better on the court that I could have imagined. Offensively, this team has been fun to watch. Lots of work needed defensively, but I am pleased overall.

But, man. I just saw that Fischer is leading Marquette in points.

PPG: 13.1
RPG: 5.4
FG%: 81.6% !!

Meanwhile, Lyles has produced despite the competition around him.

PPG: 7.8
RPG: 5.6
FG%: 47%

Can you imagine if we had a lineup of Fischer, Lyles, Blackmon, Yogi and Troy Williams? Man.

As a Purdue fan, I admit that IU team could have been scary. Like other posters have said though, you can't think that way. I hate to bring it up on an IU site, as I come in peace, but a lot of Purdue fans wonder the same thing with Hummel never tearing his ACL. Could haves only break the heart, for all teams.

what about if we had Cody and NV too? That team could for sure get

to a Sweet 16!

Lyles seems like a good kid and he's a terrific player...

It's a darn shame to see him down playing for the University of Louisville's rival in Lexington. Definitely tough to see that.

Fischer would have been great here had he stayed. Makes you sick to see him playing elsewhere.

All of these 'if's' are just fine as long as we don't have to play Syracuse in the Sweet 16, hmmmm

prob right call for him

Doubt he really cares about college hoops. NBA development his top priority. Posting up hanner in practice would not help him prep for nba.

no disrespect since you were so polite

but at first glance I those were chicks in that pic.

I don't know, maybe IU's look the same but those are some major skirt-looking shorts!

This really makes little sense. IU gets NV, he leaves early. TL commits, then changes his mind. LF leaves midseason, when he seems to be homesick. I'm no CTC apologist, but at the point he was in, he had to make decisions to offer April and Priller. I'm not sure I would have offered, or kept the scholarship for next season. I have an idea, but I won't call out a player.

Or even with just one solid big coming close to their ability

This team would be a lot more dangerous in that case too. It's Crean's failure for not having a balanced roster.

This would be Zeller's senior year and Vonleh's soph year, talk about a team, Probably number one with Vonleh, Cody, williams , yogi and Blackmon . I play the what if game as well.

Re: Imagine this team with an elite coach. *

Elite players tend to make for elite coaches,......ask any of the elite coaches why they continue to go after elite players. It assures those making big money that it will continue. How many elite coaches do you see/know of making the big money with average talent?

In your opinion, of the coaches you consider elite, which one stands out when playing a team of equal talent, at home and on the road?

2015. That team was 14-4 at this point. They finished 20-14. 9-9 in conference. Won a game in the BTT to limp into the dance before being beaten by a solid Wichita State team....with....an elite coach.

There was ramblings that losing Hanner Perea to injury was a major downfall while others said they would be just fine (sound familiar Malik Reneau?)

One thing very different about the culture 10 yrs ago- back then all the young posters were convinced that freshmen 1 and doners were the way to go. This particular post focuses on the importance of talent in making a coach look better.
I think more people have learned a lot since then. People have seen through Crean, Archie, and perhaps Woodson, and see that a good coach, be it Brian Dutcher or Curt Cignetti, can get the players that fit their program in order to get wins.

It seems we are not any better off as a program than where we were 10yrs ago
