... I don't understand why some people throw out big names assuming they'll jump at the chance to coach IU and leave their current situations behind. Is the job desirable? Yes. But, thanks in large part to the ineptitude of higher-ups, it's not nearly as alluring as it used to be. Knight's departure and a slew of shitty hires has tarnished the IU brand. Sad, but undeniably true.

Let's consider Mr. Stevens for a second. Why would he leave one of the best jobs in all of basketball to deal with a clueless BOT and idiotic donors? Moreover, can you imagine the pressure? IU has been chasing its white whale for years, and some fans would consider it a failure if he didn’t contend for B1G and national titles on the regular. I'm telling ya, a few seasons of 23-8 without deep NCAAT runs and some fans would lose their shit.

If you're of a certain age and think I'm wrong, ask yourself this one question: Does IU basketball--and your fandom--feel the way it used to?

I didn't think so.
